I already know that the speed brand does less overall damage than the vorpal brand when it comes to ranged weapons, but the fire resistance is tempting.

The enchantments school is humongous. It has over 40 spells in it. Enchantments is bigger than the 3 smallest magic schools combined.

It's just a randart. Sometimes they have actual words for a name, but it doesn't mean anything.

Elyvilon is a good choice, despite using invocations.

Try getting a staff of energy. My SpVM was spamming orbs of destruction and poison cloud in Zot without having to worry about spell hunger.

People overreact to the xp loss. It's noticeable, but it's not really significant. There's more than enough experience in a normal 3-rune game to reach level 27, even if you use a weapon of draining all the time.

Elixir fully heals you. Potion gives you a random potion effect, similar to drinking from a sparkling fountain iirc.

A sling of velocity with highly enchanted steel ammo deals a lot of damage. And halflings are great with slings. I saw one guy during the tournament paralyze Cerebov with a needle, so throwing seems to remain useful for the entire game.

Acidic bite gives you an extra unarmed attack (bite) which deals acid damage.

I would use the long sword of speed with a buckler. The strength penalty won't cripple you, since you started as a berserker. If you want to go for a 15 rune victory definitively use that katana.

Don't use NetTiles. It's buggy and outdated. Besides, it lacks all of the tiles version's features. NetTiles is useful if you're too lazy to memorize monster glyphs.

Halfings naturally have high dodging and shield apts, so I would stick to that. My current HaAs has 37 EV and 27 SH and I almost never get hit.

Racial modifiers give a small bonus if you're using a weapon forged by your own race. For the most part, it's insignificant.

I prefer to use Sublimination of Blood when the crystal ball fails. It's much faster, even if it damages you. I only ever use the staff to get 2MP quickly, so I can use Sublimination.

It's the same as Sif Muna's ability. Evoke it to channel MP. It's not worth using.

I would use the shield of positive energy over Bullseye. Your shield skill is too low, so your casting penalty will be significant. Stick to bucklers for now.

I usually drop my scrolls and potions, unless I have a cloak of preservation or some method of disabling the elves (confusion or silence).

Haunt is the 2nd best summoning spell. It summons several (various) ghosts that surround a monster. It has smite-targeting, so it's good for quickly ducking out of an enemy's LOS.
