Re: CIP HOFi - Hellfire arbalest inside

...and that was that, Psyche paralyzed me with her chaos dagger and I never moved again, never even found a bolt to fire. Time to fire up wizmode and see how cool it would have been.

CIP -> Dead HOFi - Hellfire arbalest inside

Started this HO with the intent of going Beogh and picking up some spells to take care of my ranged needs. Then on D6 I find this lying on the floor +6 arbalest "Hellfire" {hellfire, rF++ rC- MR+}, once I find some bolts I think it should take care of all my ranged attack needs for most of...

Re: CIP: DsDK of noob-ness

So I switched back to training Axes (focused) Fighting and Armor. I cleared all of lair, including a hydra infested L:8, no real problem with that. Then I went and cleared all of Orc. The cleaving aspect of axes came in real handy on Orc:4 to carve a path for me and my minions to get to the high pri...

CIP: DsDK of noob-ness

I haven't played in a couple of years probably (looks like the last release I played was 0.10.0), and when I was playing I wasn't that accomplished (made it to Zot:1 once and then promptly died) but I picked everything back up again a couple nights ago and have this going: Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup v...

CiP - spell slinging rookie DECj

I've only played burly heavy armor type fighters, mostly MDDK's I was feeling that I was limited on those by getting lucky and finding good equipment before I got too deep so I decided to change it up completely and give squishy spell slingers a try. I've now got this DECj running around and I have ...

Re: CiP: MDDK, 2 runes, now what?

Boy am I dumb, I saw the portal to Zot and promptly forgot that I could recall my allies around me to help with the white draconian and ice dragon that had me pinned. I suppose I could blame the lack of rC, but mostly it's all on me for being dumb. I need to remember that when it gets tight that it'...

Re: CiP: MDDK, 2 runes, now what?

So Vaults:8 wasn't overly difficult the only real annoyance was getting drained so much that I made very little progress exp wise. I don't know if the ring of 24 vault guards is the standard welcoming committee but 3 or 4 blasts of drain life wiped them out. Found some decent loot, traded rPois for ...

Re: CiP: MDDK, 2 runes, now what?

Shields have also been in short supply, even after diving to Elf:4, I have a buckler with rN+, and probably an unidentified runed buckler or two that I could check. I figured that Crypt would be too much of a piety hit not knowing how possible it would be to speed run down to the bottom and grab the...

YASD: MDDK forgetting abilities is lame

I've got this MDDK going, and I've managed to get runes from Snake and Shoals with no real trouble. A lot of that was probably finding an Elec branded Demon Whip lying on the ground my first trip into Lair. Snake was no trouble when I cleared it top to bottom a few levels ago, Orc was no trouble and...

DEAD: MDDK, elf5 was too much

So I cleared the dungeon down to like 22 without much trouble and got the runes in swamp and shoals (runes 1 and 2 lifetime) including the Larnaean Hydra in swamp:5. By that point I was up to lvl 20 so I figured that Elf:5 was next to see if I could get a bump on my gear before diving deeper. What I...

Re: CIP: MDDK, lost and confused

So I went into the wizlab, there were 3x3 pillars that vanished to release the undead within, including an ancient lich and a guardian mummy. I ran away. All the loot I saw was a general assortment of scrolls so no huge loss since I didn't see an acquirement scroll among them. I have no idea why I t...

dead: MDDK, lost and confused no longer

This is easily my most successful dive, I've cleared Orc (and found no good shops) and Lair, and have Elf, and Vaults clear to just above the bottom. I did 3 levels of Swamp and I've stayed away from Shoals. I'm at lvl 18 with a decent army including Nergalle who is great at spamming spectral orc wa...

Another dead MDDK

Well, it was fun, turns out that one of the manuals was a shield one, and that Ice Fiends live in ice caves or at least one does. I thought that doing the ice cave with my 2 ticks of rC would be ok, and that I would find something worth while in there after Blades was a bust. Thanks for the lessons,...

Re: CIP: MDDK diving where i've never been

I survived the abyss, picked up a few relatively minor mutations, no berzerk/teleport/shouter-itis. Cleared down to D:23 and Vault:6 finding both Crypt and Hall of Blades in the process. Found the entry fee to the trove, and I busted big on it, just spellbooks, manuals and scrolls, I havent ID'd the...

Re: CIP: MDDK diving where i've never been

So I was wondering around D:18 cause it wasn't acting overly difficult and then I stepped into a zot trap and found myself cast into the abyss. I've only been to the abyss once before and that was at a much lower level due to an unfortunate distortion unwield where the option was unwield or starve a...

CIP: MDDK diving where i've never been (dead in an Ice Cave)

So this started off pretty slowly and I still think I have junk for a weapon with a +4 flail of protection all the way down at D17. The +1 +3 ring of slaying does help though, and I have a +3 +2 ring of slaying stashed too but figured that rPois was more important. I've cleared Orc:4 and got junk fo...

Re: MDDK noob advice, help me survive

I made the fatal mistake of not wanting to ditch my undead army on Orc4 when things got packed after opening a door and finding a stack of high level orc spell slingers and getting mobbed by summoned things. Lesson learned: It's ok to run away from your army to live to fight another day.

MDDK noob advice, help me survive

I've taken a liking to MDDK's, i like the heavy armor, hard hitting side of the MD and I like the panic button of mirror and crowd control of drain life that i get with DK. I don't normally make it deep enough to worry about when and how to utilize enslave soul. That and having an army of minions is...

Re: The 'Questions too small to need their own thread' threa

Since moving up to 0.8 (tiles) I've noticed that on the skills screen there are sometimes a green '*' or a '+4' after the aptitude value. Anyone know what they mean?
