Re: Dragon form idea

Steam Dragon form is actually quite desirable, because of the implied evocable fog (steam) It would max out at the armour bonus of a XL3 draconian (+5) so it could possibly be ok balance-wise Interactions between armour and forms like the OP suggests would be cool (but only if they can't be gamed to...

I'd have gone with the crystal plate. It's amazing in the late game if you dump all your enchant armour scrolls on it, and a staves FoFi shouldn't have any trouble surviving the early game. Also you can expect to find a couple (~3) lajatangs every 3rune game.

Seems Ash in version 0.27-a0-463 is most useful for combat mages. Gaining bonuses to magic skills isn't really valuable unless the character has high Int, and a pure mage is probably better off going Sif Muna for Channel and guaranteed access to high-level spells. Combat mages have the high Int nee...

I don't think there's an issue with Dex rings being better than EV rings in the late game. It fits the pattern of crawl. Strength is also better than Slaying in the late game, but worse in the early game. As for the complaints that a felid now feels untouchable; I'd say the same thing about most cha...

pearl dragon armour is very good if you're going into extended and not going for super heavy or super light armour (ie crystal plate, gold dragon, swamp dragon, robes of archmagi). If summoning spells are too powerful, increase their spell level (and nerf Dragon's Call). If invokable summons are too powerful, increase their piety cost. If evokable summons are too powerful, nerf the evokables.
