Re: Gooncrawl [fork]

Where I do I post bugs? I have a funny one for a Beogh player in an Arcane Sanctum. I instantly summoned and enslaved all mutated orcs in the sanctum and made them permapals. They acted like named, advanced orcs and could immediately receive weapons.

It felt good saving them. Thank you for this bug.

YAPR Ogre Necromancer, Boyfriend of Ashenzari

I just had the luckiest start in all my history of gaming. And I'm about to get married to Ashenzari. Level 1=Potion of Experience, immediate jump to level 4 Level 2=Ring of Wizardry Level 3=Scythe of Curses Level 4=Temple with Ashenzari's heavy breathing as I approached, with everything down to my ...

Windows 8 Problems

I'm using the newest dev version, tiles, under windows 8. Since upgrading to Windows 8 this morning, the game is almost unplayable. There is a serious delay in the video, a laggy feeling, whether using mouse or keyboard. You cannot actually put, let's say, mephitic cloud, on a monster. When you put ...

I used it to lure elves and snakes out of their lair when I had a melee build easily overwhelmed and no good choke point. I lured them to long halls and combined with teleport, found it useful for the brief moments before I died.

Playing online and keyboard

Friends, I'd love to play online more. It's matured into a nice option that doesn't feel jerky or very slow. The bit of slow that's there actually helps. Well, this morning, I can't get https://tiles.crawl.develz.org/ to open in Chrome 16 beta. So that's a barrier. It's the keyboard that is stopping...

Coming off my first extended game win (12 runes with a non-magic using Ghoul Monk of Makhleb), I make the following observations: The staff of Dispater is useful for characters with enough HP and evocation training. Very, very useful. Steam Dragon armor is useful for all characters, especially the +...

Character in Progress Humiliates Dowan and Duvessa

With my Ghoul Artificer of Oki, level 6 on Dungeon 4. Dowan blinks! Duvessa resists. Duvessa speeds up. Duvessa is charmed. Your wand has 10 charges. [I zap with wand of flame] Dowan is badly wounded. [Duvessa attacks a bat] Duvessa hits Dowan with a runed dagger. Dowan hits Duvessa with a short swo...

Re: Question about melee builds.

I just won a 9 rune game with a demonspawn monk of makaleb. Having a 27 in fighting and unarmed combat made zot pretty easy once I decided to do it. I'm playing .10, so no hive, no shoals in this one, and I emptied all but the cold branch of hell. Still too afraid to do Pan. Abyss wasn't so hard in ...

YAVP Strong Deep Dwarf EE of Makhleb

This was my first extended game win, with a trip to three branches of hell and a sound defeat of the negative lord. I noticed that Orbs of Fire do not seem to mutate you like before. Is this true? And the orb area is unable to be shattered and designed differently than I'd seen it last. Perhaps I ne...

Statue Form, Still Viable Option for tank beyond 4 runes?

I am playing a sludge elf earth elementalist and wanted to try out a statue form build to augment a multi-rune game. But in my research, I discovered the unarmed combat advantage in statue form was nerfed starting in .9, so now it's better to have a weapon. The question is, can this spell still domi...

YAVP Ascended a Sprig Berz

I read the thread about this build and had been using challenging builds for a long time; I was ready for some victory. Trog was good to me. Thanks for your thoughts, and KoboldLord, I bow to your understanding of actual coding and game mechanics. I'm a casual player. I think the AC is too small; yes. I think the game mechanics offer a way to enhance AC without adding armor. An armored octopus is just wrong. But one with several shields and two swords is perfect. I agree that there are ways, as with all castors, to avoid contact with the enemy. But in t...

This is a thread for those who are experimenting with the bleeding edge and using the newest character, the octopod. I just lost an interesting Kobold carrying the black torch. Level 14, but low hit points and low AC made him easy pickings for a hand-axe throwing Warlord. Two right between the eyes. A Kobold Death Knight is interesting. Being able to eat anything, turn everything else into slaves, get good servants from Yremajaojojapskjeb, is fun. Hi folks, thanks for creating a great forum. I wanted to chime in on a build I'd never tried before--a Draconian Transmuter of Che.
