Re: Init setting to increase inventory icon size on main scr

There is currently no support for this, but I have opened a feature request at https://crawl.develz.org/mantis/view.php?id=12126

Re: Is it possible to automatically clear the character name

I've fixed the behaviour for backspace. Backspace will now clear the first time you press it, unless you've already typed part of a name; otherwise, it will delete one character as usual. This is not a perfect fix; as advil implied, it's surprisingly non-trivial to do properly, but this should make ...

Re: Saving skill configurations

This sounds useful; i'd be happy to help with questions, code review etc. Perhaps just don't save weapon-dependent stats; let those be determined by initial weapon choice, and auto-restore the other stats. I'm more concerned about the UI aspect; having it silently save if and only if you open the me...

Re: Monster threat level summary in offline tiles

This is slightly out of the scope of this project, but would it be possible to add an icon for actually-very-scary? The usual technique here is to add force-mores: this is more effective, since it forces you to stop tabbing. The code which constructs dungeon tile graphics by looking at which tile f...

Re: Monster threat level summary in offline tiles

Perhaps I should just try adding these in and see how they look, and/or shrinking them to uniform size / putting them in a corner. I don't wish to offend whoever initially created these, as some work obviously went into them and they do look nice for what they are. Does anyone else have any thought...

Re: UI inventory with two columns is confusing

The behaviour you suggest is how menus used to work, but it had a number of issues, which have been discussed pretty extensively in ##crawl-dev. One of these is due to weird interactions between resizing the menu and scrolling, and another has to do with sorting items. We've considered other layout ...

Good idea; added at f26638a71f. This also makes the order consistent with the aptitudes table columns.

Re: Reveal the map boundary

I've been planning to make the map boundary use unbreakable rock walls, but haven't gotten around to it yet. |amethyst mentioned something on IRC (2018-03-15) about wanting them to appear like regular walls until they're in LOS.

Re: Proposal: use ? for help key, and change scrolls hotkey

It would be strange to have just one item category, scrolls, for which hotkey != glyph. Scrolls are ? in console, but you would have to press d: instead of d? to drop all your scrolls. Or do you plan to change the glyph for scrolls too? _ is in use by pick up/drop item menus too. It might be a bett...

Proposal: use ? for help key, and change scrolls hotkey

Hi all! I've been doing user interface work for some time now, and one thing I'd like to add is a consistent keybind for showing help, for all of DCSS's different screens. This change would make DCSS much more user-friendly for newer players. It would also remove the need to scatter "(press x f...

opengameart.org has a lot more CC0-licensed sound effects than I expected, many of which look (sound?) reasonably high-quality and thematically appropriate.

Re: Enhancements to the sound system which I want to add

⋅  Simplify the compilation process. It shouldn't necessary to edit sound.h when compiling without tiles. If SDL can work in the text-based mode (I assume it can), then the text-based mode should use it! SDL Mixer can be used without the rest of it (opening a graphical window). I'm confid...

Re: Wiki Broken?

The chaosforge wiki isn't maintained by the dev team. Its vanishing is apparently related to the upcoming Jupiter Hell alpha and a related chaosforge website redesign. Hopefully that's temporary. As far as I know, most established players prefer the learndb as that tends to be more up-to-date. We'd ...
