When I went down the staircase, there were 4 of them close enough that when I tried to run 1 hit me on the way up and 2 followed me. SMITE from 2 of them was too much for me. Condensation shield is great if you prefer 2-handed weapons (if not, just use a regular shield).

Only way to avoid smites is high magic resist, and/or a boatload of hit points. I'm not sure magic resistance works for smiting, but I do get the occasional 'You resist.' against orc priests.

Yeah, ettins got beefed up. You can get hit for more like 100 (assuming that each of their weapons tags you). They have around the same hit points though, so just be careful about closing on them unless you have really high shield/AC/evasion.

More shields. The ac may make you take less damage, but the shield skill will prevent that same damage completely on block.

Lots of nasty stuff can appear in the orc mines (Agnes, Kirke, Saint Roca, Terpischord to name a few). I would never recommend clearing the mines as soon as you find them.

Disintigration will break the statues. Digging will not work and nothing short of Shatter (level 9 earth spell) can break the stone blocks, as far as I know.

That is an intentional setup. You can do the same sort of thing to the temple with your the Lugonu 'Corrupt' ability.

Blink scrolls won't work. Distinigrate or fireball works. I'm assuming that fire does as well. MAYBE flame? Casting blink works, I think.

I just had that exact same situation with my Mummy Earth Ele. I got in (way later than I should have) with a fireball wand.

All you need in Crypt is Dispel Undead. Except for the occasional unique, EVERYTHING in there is undead. Crypt 5 is usually guarded by at least 1 ancient lich. For Hall of Blades, just know Mystic Blast or Airstrike and you'll be fine. No runes in there, just tons of experience and maybe a new weapo...

I think I've gotten mutations on both Spriggans and Trolls that effect their metabolism. I cannot say that I have proof though.
