Ba hopping 4 tiles in one turn like a semi-controlled blnk is very different from a centaur speed boost where you have to move thru each tile turn for turn. The two species are radically different on other aspects as well. I dont see a problem there at all.

Keep in mind that vamp wont heal you with undead/demonic enemies, of which there are many in depths. Its still an exceedingly good weapon.

If you don't actually care whether you finish as a Be then I would leave trog for Oka (or some other) as soon as you think you can survive it. I think you misunderstood what I said. I didnt include the option that removed the ability for a strategic decision from the player (trog autoburning books on sight) because I didnt think it was even an option worth discussing.

You dont need to be heavily invested, you just need to be able to take advantage of the stab bonus, period. Yeah, I left it out on purpose because I figured the bottom line would be at least allowing the player the decision of when to burn the book, even if they couldnt pick it up with Trog. As for book vaults, you could just not do elf 3 and you are guaranteed what is it, at least five books or something...

You can do most of vaults without ever seeing much more than 1 monster at a time with firestorm. Hitting monsters out of LoS is seriously broken, but then again so is any character who has enough XP to get firestorm safely castable in the first place while not ignoring their defenses.
