FYI: it was a DDFi, so he was able to survive. I didn’t even realize that the goblin had a elec dagger until it was almost too late.

I'd choose guardian spirit because it's really good. With Oka you use your abilities before fights so you should be ok.

What I meant is that I don't know how Qaz is implemented. I don't know if the character makes the noise, or if the noise happens at the characters location. I like Qaz. I think I've won with him thrice, 2 online and 1 offline. But all were sturdy chars like HO or gargoyle.
I don't think Qaz is good with caster types though. Or is it?
Qaz is good with very high invo and amulet of faith.

CB and DD help a lot. I don't do Hells without them. Most people say that Pan should be done first and it is true. I personally love CB. I also use PoG, apportation and, depending on the char, lesser beckoning (e.g. statue formed chei).

My opinion is that I take a long amount of time without having a good win percentage to show for it. For instance, I only won 3 games in the tournament. And had some high level splats. So I am clearly not using all that time for taking good decisions.

Remember to use x -> v to examine mobs you don't know or don't recall what they do. You should have fled the second it appeared. You had freezing cloud and scrolls of fog. Did you spam freezing clouds on top of it? I think it's susceptible to cold. I wonder if you didn't have a lack of escape option...

Is it me or you only have rC+?
In that case you can face very high level elementals and Qaz can remove your rC.
In your case, I wouldn't ditch a shield. You have blink and can evade the elementals.
In short dumping Qaz should work. maybe do it in the low levels of hell?

Well, it depends on the god. Faith is very strong with some gods (e.g. Qazlal) useful with others (e.g. Trog) and kind of meh with others who don't use piety for anything worthwhile.

This was my worst orb run ever. More than once, I thought I was going to bite the bullet. It was brutal. Pan lords left and right and very nasty ones at that. It started in Zot with *both* lungs protected by zot traps. One had a zot trap followed by a permanent teleport one. I cleared the lungs, too...
