The Lair usually isn't any more difficult than the regular dungeon at the same depth. By the time you get to Zot, you might want to have a high level AoE spell ready. With your particular build the logical spell would be Fire Storm. The amulet of resist mutation is only super-ultra-important if you actually plan to play any part of the game after clearing Zot.
