Cutting a weak problem to sprout tons of other bigger problems is a terrible idea. Score penalties against slower movement speed (this includes getting slowed and moving on shallow water) and action time does not make sense.

Go to Snake first since it's somewhat safer. Stay away from these:

1. Naga sharpshooter
2. Shock serpent
3. Salamander with a bow
4. Nagaraja
5. Anaconda unless it's alone

Just focus on getting safe exp and loot.

It's really easy to fix felids though. Just remove its multiple lives, add a trivial and useless ability like Naga's poison spit as "compensation" and be done with it.

Nope. You can treat it like a Fireball, a spell that is mainly used against mobs/groups except you need to stay in melee range and swing weapons unlike conjuration spells.

I dunno about Abyss but I really think Ziggurat access should be fully locked until the player has all the 15 runes. Its existence screams of bonus content instead of a place that's only generally used to sneak out a few guaranteed items like a disgusting hobo and get out at Zig:9 or 10.

Uncompact characters are inevitably stronger than compact characters because of spells. More spells and MP are better than weapons, wands, HP, AC, EV and SH combined.

Sounds about right. Abyss should only be about getting the rune, a punishment branch, a resting place for AKs and an exit of Pan, not a farmland. Pan is better designed for farming since the risk is way bigger with that amount of open space.

What, you mean like resting? Sure. Except this "resting" you're referring to dramatically increases your regeneration rate, works while moving and no matter what you're doing. At least AC and EV needs humongous investment to be useful and you actually have to find loot and scrolls for AC....
