Re: OpWz with willies in the Lair

I'd train a ton of dodge. Dodge is the lifeblood of any octopode. I follow the mikee formula for earlygame training and tend to get 7ish fighting and 20~ EV by lair (while also investing in anything you find that will boost your survivability) From looking at your morgue, this is the stuff that I'd ...

Make UC with Dith's shadow mimic actually do something

I'm not sure if no one else has really noticed up until now, but it is painfully obvious on any UC-using character of Dith that shadow mimic is pretty useless. If it does actually do something, then its effect is completely minuscule compared to shadow mimic with bolt spells or melee weapons. I won ...

More consumables on start for all backgrounds = easier game = boredom This is not a very good idea imo, DCSS should be moving towards adding more difficulty than away from it. Although, I can understand the intent. A lot of earlygame situations are just solved by running away, not engaging, or pilla...

The game should be difficult and non-tedious, I don't see why 'farming' being removed is a bad thing.

Difficulty is not a bad thing, the player should feel challenged, so why give them the option of blunting that challenge in areas that are ,ostensibly, the hardest in the game?

Claws / Aux bite attack would be pretty negligible in terms of increasing overall species strength unless it's something like Claws 3 or a branded bite.

I think the most elegant solution is just letting small species use the same weapons as medium species. It's just a crappy flavour-based mechanic in the first place, and nothing would really be lost if small species could use all weapons normally.

Octopode isn't as hard as you think, you can easily win one without spells or much AC.

Just this specific interaction with hornets doesn't feel feel 'intended'. (i.e. are hornets made to be a potential game-ender for low AC characters, or is this an undesirable emergent characteristic? )

I'd go with Jewellery. A shield is good enough to use for a while, and Op usually have a ton of enchant armour scrolls so it'll be easy to make it into a max enchanted one, so armour is out of the question for me.
