Re: Yet another stupid Elephant

Now if only when I killed a hydra he would gift me a hydra headed whip with stats that would make a shitty ogre proud.

Normal elephant or direphant?

Re: Another Ogre Idea (sorry...)

If the Ogg-ogg's could at least hold down more food they would be more playable. Maybe do something different like buff their inherent satiation cap just like how the ghouls cap is halved, maybe give them a 50% bonus, that way they wouldn't be too troll like. Still some abilities with a bit of syner...

Re: Is Iljyb getting jacked?

I am a bit puzzled since both in 7. and Trunk I have never been blasted away by him. I see him just about every game, and I have played quite a few lately.

The wand of disintegration seems a bit ridiculous for D,2 But I fail to see how he could be any more deadly than a pre cloaked Sigmund.

Re: Spellcasting specialist species

Seems more like a class idea rather than a race, even though aptitudes are racial. If this was to be implemented I would want to see "Red mage" play style implemented. If a character can be allowed to master in only one school of magick and murder with it, I would like to see a jack off al...

Re: WOOHOO! First rune!

Yeah I just realized I misplaced. I am not sure since I am not terribly familiar with the terms used for part of the game. I had dealt with literally a dozen hydras and almost equal amount of swamp dragons around and clustered in the walled alcove where the rune was sitting. - Just wiki'd it. That w...

Re: Is berserkitis a problem if I never hit anything?

You run the small chance that you might berserk in a combat when you should be running, the slow effect and hunger can be a bit of a pain, but if you are sticking out a battle then you should be fine.

Re: Is Iljyb getting jacked?

Ijyb is not really much of a threat, but he can be a bit of a nuisance if you are cornered (rare though). Give him darts and that will change - or Javelins, since that would somehow be more funny.

Re: Melee character: How the hell?

Just a quick note about minotaurs and their ability to use every melee oriented weapon well, they are the only race in the game with a +2 to staves, so if wanna try a staff monk or like high accuracy they are different. 1: Trog is pretty straightforward, but god gifts are what you need to fuel a fig...

Re: Is killing things you can barely kill worth it?

- It depends, if it is a major obstacle and leaving it behind you poses a threat because it cuts off your lower level retreat, you might wanna see about throwing some extra fire power it's way. Also an orc is worth 2 xp an ogre is worth 129 xp - At low levels that could give you a level boost or two...

20 could light a whole hallway one fire... Hehehehehe.

Ok so holding onto it for a little while as a little fire mine seems to be a good consensus. Maybe not hydra slaying material, but has low level roasting potential.

Strategy- Spell book burning

- Spell book burning for Trog gives some nice immediate piety bonuses, but have any of you tried using spell books as a means to trap, escape or incinerate creatures? I can think of quite a few times when I find myself running away for my life, but dropping a book or two in a tight hallway might all...

Re: Mutations -- awesome? Lame?

- I had a losing streak of 7 bad mutations in a row, 4 sky beast meat, 1 potion, turned my character borderline retarded. Other times I have gotten a mix set, or even about 4-5 passive good mutations, +AC resistence, extra strength/dex, increased stealth. Berserkitis can be a game breaker, just go a...

Re: Hydras make me panic

Spriggans with 18 AC and 45 Evasion have no trouble with these suckers, especially ones with 4,12 speed brand artefact daggers of awesome, and 10,6 quick blades of fire. Why is it that 6 headed hydras are pretty nasty, but 14 headed hydras seem to kill you twice as fast? Oh crap, must be the heads.....

Re: A more nuanced evil god proposal

Though if you wanna make a twisted mean god, you could set up a nasty gimmick that lets you gain piety depending on how much blood you splatter across the floor and walls (Pretty visible in tile version when you slowly nick away at someone or splatter them), the amount of fear you instill in creatur...

Re: All these classes?

Waiting 35K turns Late game is a better trade off than getting propelled into the abyss low-low mid level. I like the class selection, but it is really just a basis for allocation of skills stats, species is the more permanent one. You can always switch from one play style to another, but having +4 ...

Re: I think we learned an important lesson today.

Erolcha and Sonja both have the capability to send you to the abyss if they are not killed promptly. Which seems like GG for anyone who is not either extremely lucky or extremely well prepared. Fuzzy Hlumppken never stood a chance. Also, The random angry berserk mutation will drain you of food, and ...
