Re: CiP - KoAs of Trog

Nobody's decreeing or mandating. You asked for general advice to avoid dying, and you got some. This isn't our job; we do this for fun (and for free). I'm not sure what exactly ruffled mikee's feathers, but his advice was very basic: your best weapon is the +11 quickblade, you've overtrained many s...

Re: CiP - KoAs of Trog

I feel like you have gotten a lot of general information from the wiki or something but have never observed this information being applied in game. Like: yeah, a dagger gets more of a bonus to stabbing than a quick blade does. But like you already have a million points of stabbing - if you were to ...

Re: CiP - KoAs of Trog

Yeah, Trog is just my Big Buddy Backup. If it doesn't die in a stab + 1 hit, I swap out for the quickblade. If it's really tough, Quickblade + Rage. If it's a thing of nightmares, BiA + Quickblade + Rage. So far, I haven't needed to switch to the Quickblade even once. On a side note, only a Dagger c...

Re: CiP - KoAs of Trog

I haven't really needed the +11 quickblade yet because I'm cleaning house with my Sprig's Knife and invisibility. Basically, I travel with the Sprig's Knife in hand for the stealth boost, then if I can't stab and it's a particularly threatening enemy, I'll switch to the quickblade. I just haven't en...

CiP - KoAs of Trog

Well, it's happening again. Got awesome start so I'm gonna end up dying to a hoard of rats or bats or some BS like that. Any advice on where to go from here? Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup version 0.11.0 (tiles) character file. Midknight the Backstabber (Kobold Assassin) Turns: 29283, Time: 01:58:51 HP 93...

Really Crawl? Of all the Spriggans and Orcs and Kobolds and Elves and Humans and whatnot I've run... you spawn a Cloak of Poison Resistance on D1 for my vampire enchanter? Scumbag RNG...

Re: CIP>YASD - KoAs of Trog

Was cruising through Zot:5 when I got trapped between a Curse Toe and an Ancient Lich. All defenses failed me and an emergency teleport landed me in worse trouble. It always happens. Doing well, slaughtering everything in my path... then the game throws me a curve ball.

Re: CIP - KoAs of Trog

I'm doing marginally better now though still having some encumbrance issues. Finished Shoals and Snake and got to lvl 27, but I lost my sInv helmet to horns mutation. Also got a Swap Dragon armor, though it's only +0 while my current Mottled one is +6. Should I be finishing up Vault, diving into Hal...

CIP>YASD - KoAs of Trog

Well, I'm making good progress and that's usually a pretty good indicator of my imminent demise... usually to something inane like confused next to lava or some such nonsense or running around the corner to every unique in the game (including ones I've already killed) and 5-10 player ghosts. I think...

Unarmed Combat Str Weight

I've searched both the wiki and the forum but haven't been able to get the slightest gleam of info:

What is the strength weight of Unarmed Combat? Or do Dex and Str factor into it differently?

Unarmed "Weapons"

Unarmed combat, while reaching a high rate of attack, suffers from three major problems. 1) Losing a slot for ego items 2) Sacrificing brands 3) Mechanics of how damage is calculated We all know that given the nature of armor, low-damage attacks can be at a significant disadvantage but while all oth...

Re: Most dangerous foe

The most dangerous foe is that blasted Orb. It's at fault for all these heros throwing themselves at this carnivorous dungeon in the first place. Just think of all the scientific and cultural advancements that could have been had if the entrance to "The Dungeon" were just sealed forever an...

Re: Worst episodes on D:1

Lets see: First room I entered had 2 gnolls in it which immediately netted me. Death Spawned in a room with an Ooze, walked out of the room, another Ooze waited around the corner. Dodged that one and a THIRD ooze in another room. Had these 3 oozes dogging me the whole way while I tried to get to XL2...

Re: All these classes?

There's very little difference between a fire elementalist, wizard with a fire book, and conjurer with a fire book. The same thing goes for a berserker and fighter chosing Trog... there seems to be a lot of redundancy in the classes. Is there something I'm not seeing? Has it always been like this? ...

Re: Horrible Mismatches

I tried the Spriggan Berserker thing. Took 4 tries before I broke that initial luck hurdle and got a good start rolling. Got a +8/+8 quick blade as my first gift on D:5. Made my way down to about D:15 or so, got a few nice things along the way including a +6/+5 artifact demon blade with vampirism am...
