My first win was with a SpEn of Gozag. Bribe branch is good for anyone, at least before extended.

I have a spriggan with 14.5 throwing skill and a blowgun in inventory, but Okawaru keeps giving me mostly useless equipment and useless tomahawks. Why is this?

Do Okawaru/Elyvilon get mad if you fire storm your fire vortexes (do they even die to firestorms, as they resist fire, but the storm also does some physical damage), or if you glaciate them, or kill them with a missed ranged attack? How effective are minotaur horns in the lategame and extended? They only do 12 damage, according the wiki, and that may not be enough to get through the ac of many monsters.

Are some monsters (ie Orbs of fire, liches, ancient lichies) actually immune to hexes, or do they just have really high MR?

Vampiric lajatang is not very useful in extended, it only works against natural enemies, and most enemies in extended are either demons or undead.

I tried it, and it felt pretty useless. It did attack when I did t-a, but I could have done more damage by just firing another iron shot. Also, once it killed something, it did not seem to be able to reacquire a target by itself.

Why do demon lords (random pan lords, fixed pan lords, hell lords) have bigger sprites on tiles? They take up twice the space of a normal tile, so their top half is in the grid above.

I have both, which is better?

Just killed Lom Lobon. He kept healing himself. Once, he was nearly dead, and he healed all the way to green. Fortunately, he wasted much of his time hitting my fire vortexes and not actually doing anything useful.

But reliably killing them in one turn is difficult as Neqoxecs can have up to 44 health. Also, cacodemons and shining eyes can see invisible (though cacodemons have lots of spells and you can probably kill them before they mutate you).

How smart are these? Will they avoid blasting a fireball at someone you are meleeing? Will they avoid using fire attacks on fire immune creatures?

How do melee characters deal with mutators in the extended endgame? In a normal game, there are just oof, and there are usually enough cmut pots for them. However, neqoxecs, cacodemons, and shining eyes are common in the endgame. Casters can nuke them from afar, but how should melee characters deal ...

They appear in pandemonium.

How do I deal with infernal demonspawn warmongerers who spawn with large shields as a caster? They block my iron shots, resist my fireballs, and while I can firestorm/shatter them to death, that makes too much noise. I have just been beating them to death, but is there a better way of killing them?

Why is it so good? 3-5 HP per turn is not enough for most combat, and you can just press 5 to heal out of combat. The only times I see this being useful on a normal character is in Abyss and Hell.

Edit: Should I just try to ascend this character with 7 runes? I have no source of channeling (no staff or ball of energy).

Edit: I started tomb. I cleared the first floor, then used shatter to break into the hall of greater mummies. My rN+++ and sustAtt ring stopped most of their death curses, but one of them drained my strength by 3, and I have only managed to get 1 point back so far.

I have a stealth manual. I'm probably going to lose a few characters to extended, but I want a 15 rune win eventually. Also, I have not yet found a book containing cblink.

Why should it be removed? Combat is already quite spiky.

With AC 80, wouldn't you have quite a bit of GDR?

What should casters do about ghost moths then? They are often found in open spaces, and by the time you locate them, they may have already drained all of your mp.

I thought of a easyish way to do this: read scroll of vulnerability, confuse, stab. Would this work? I do not actually have a SpEn right now.

Staff also makes my earth magic stronger, and I have no brand weapon scrolls.

The treasure trove wants a +7 demon whip. I have a +6 demon whip of flaming (from hell knight), and 4 enchant weapon scrolls. I do not really want the whip, as I melee with a staff of earth, and as flame is a bad enchantment for fast weapons. Should I pay to enter?

The damage reduction still seems pretty small (3.75 average at level 27).

I just finished the crypt, and only had to eat 2 meat rations. It helped that crypt is not absolutely corpse free, as Necromancers and death knights leave corpses.

Why are deep dwarves considered so good? They do not regenerate, they have mediocre aptitudes, including -1 to experience, do not have great innate abilities/resistances, and their damage shaving seems small.
