I know this, when only mummy and angel zigs can give you a challenge. Or maybe tomb3 when you alerted everybody with tornado :) but then, you could land on a hellion island and be hellfired to death without much you could do about it - it is rare, but crawl could still get you. YAVP: DEWz first 15-runer and a Zig

So I finally got my second win! By the time I cleared Zot, I realised the character had some potential and decided to go for a few more runes (also thanks to some encouragement from R18 and a couple other spectators). The game kind of power-spiralled out of control at that point as there was increas...

Accessing known items on acquirement screen

Bit of a silly mistake this one, but I just wasted a scroll of acquirement by attempting to press \- to see my unrecognised items from the acquirement screen. It was just an instinctual key combination that I expected to work. Magically, a completely useless staff appeared at my feet. Since acquirem...

The mechanics don't have to be the same. Here's an example: the way teleports and stairs work in NetHack. IMB is really good and is one level higher than Stone Arrow, and will do more damage at decent power. It'll last you much longer than Stone Arrow (by which time you should have worked up to Shatter).
