How do you deal with Vault:5 ?

I am sure this is obvious for experienced player, but I have a hard time finding a strategy for Vault:5 ? (And the search feature of the forum does not allow to search for Vault) My experiences so far: 1. A gargoyleEE^Vehu with Shatter : go downstairs, Shatter until everything is dead or out of Mana...

Hello all, I am looking for advices/directions. Except for Animate Dead, that is really handy in tight spot, the spells I have ...

I know this is a pretty basic question but I have had a hard time to find out the answer. My first few runs I ate every time that I turned "Hungry", which was a bad way to waste permafood. Now I tend to eat when I have been very hungry for a long time, or `Near Starving` when I am not sure...

Clarity has been removed as an amulet and as a randart property (was it even a randart property to begin with?). Currently, the only sources of Clarity are the Autumn Katana, OCPA, the Amulet of Four Winds, and Ash. Yes, it sucks for mummies. I am not challenging it but what was the rationale? So b...

I also enjoy the ID mini game (but I am also a Nethack player where arguably there are more strategy to identify potion and scrolls) The interesting part is the choice you have to make to either quaff an unknown potion or flee/die. This is kind of frustrating to die when the solution was in your inv...

Then, you have all these spells that may or may not work against a monster (MR check, etc.), versus a set of spells which are cast upon yourself and always work... charms for example. I'm not saying it never makes sense to ever use anything which has an MR check, all I'm really saying is that it's ...

I need to learn to play more quickly : 200 kturn in 12 hours while I am already at 17hours for 130k turn (but since I have never been this far, I am pretty cautious).

Is there any generic tip to play quickly ? Maybe like relying more on Shfit X to move around on a map ?
