Re: What is best armor for melee-centric Kiku worshiper

I'm a fan of Fire/Ice/Pearl dragon armor as a happy medium for this sort of thing. Necromancy is also a school where you benefit nicely from investing heavily in the skill for extra spell power/Pain brand power, so that may help you overcome the spellcasting penalties related to armor. I've had good...

Re: Robe of Vines any good?

I've had great results with this item on casters for getting through places like Hell where the clock is always ticking. It pairs nicely with Sublimate Blood. Alternately if you're a Mummy caster, it's one of the better chests you can wear I think. Gozag's potion heals aren't negated by the No Devic...

Mummy Skald of Gozag! Go the brawler route, and I recommend a polearm as it's fun with Spectral Weapon.

Maybe you'll win the Gozag shop lottery and get a Wyrmbane.

I typically prefer to dive Vault 5 rather than stairhop, unless I have Shatter or Tornado online somehow. Here's how I do it: 1) Eat to Engorged 2) Buff up. Agility, Haste, you name it. 3) Pop a Tele Scroll 4) Go down the stairs to Vault 5 5) Pop a Magic Mapping scroll immediately 6) (Get teleported...

Don't neglect Mana Vipers or Aura of Abjuration in extended, either. Branch bosses and pandemonium lords are way more manageable when they can't cast. Aura of abj makes mummies much easier, too.

Re: Demigods are 5th strongest species

They seem just fine as casters. I've had trouble with melee demigods because of the lack of gifts/brands that you normally get from gods like Trog, Okiwaru, TSO, Kiku, Lugonu and so on. You can't reskill like Ash, and their base apts are bad, so switching melee skills in the midgame is really painfu...

I've had characters that suddenly came together in Hall of Blades because a branded Quickblade or Eveningstar dropped. Sar mentioned Invis as one easy way to deal with them. I've also used Airstrike, LRD, Slouch and Irradiate in the past. I seem to remember Static Discharge working too but maybe not.

Staff of Death is pretty undesirable as a poor man's pain brand. While it can technically hit harder than a Pain brand, you have to invest in 3 skills rather than 2 to get great use out of it, and you're still swinging a slower staff without a bonus. Corpse Drop piety cost isn't bad, you can use it ...

abjuration is often worth training summoning to cast on someone who hasn't trained summoning. I agree on this for Hybrids that don't have a way to deal with a summoner behind monsters. Greater Mummies, Cursed Skulls.. even Boggarts can be problematic if you can't reach them. Mana Viper is another w...

Any reason why reskilling is seen as such a bad option? Being able to invest safely into using that +1 dagger of elec and not feeling like you wasted all that exp when an EStar of Holy Wrath drops seems good. 10% exp for the penalty doesn't seem like a big deal when it lets you use the right item wh...

This won't win you any points for speedrunning, but you can always leave the Tomb to go recover lost stats somewhere else.

After losing a bunch of stats to mummies, I'll often leave, go to Zot or Pan for a while, then come back later to finish Tomb.

Dragon's Call is a great tool for getting through the extended game, so you're probably set. The only reason you should need a melee weapon would be for a silent spectre, so I'd go with something easy to use Of Holy Wrath. I think you'd want to use a staff of Wiz/Power/Summoning/Energy or high Int o...

If you do happen to find an item that gives you +10 to EV, then that would probably be a good option on D2 as well, but those aren't anywhere near as common as +0 plate. I think you're mischaracterizing plate a bit - you lose a ton of EV to gain the AC, and your offensive skills will suffer for wea...

I don't believe AC helps much vs poison applications, but EV would help you avoid them.

Factor in that you were probably missing attacks due to wearing heavy platemail with low armour skill/strength, the fight probably took longer while you were getting hit with poison way more.

The starting book is strong enough to get you through the early game pretty consistently. Canine Familiar also lasts for a while, s...

I have trouble with the 'tunnel vision on your weapon skill from the start' approach. I like Tasonir's approach more, in that you won't be totally without ...

Relying on Conjure Flame for Spiny Frogs has been tough for me.
