Re: Added difficulty?

I think early game difficulty is nothing but cheap. You lack escape options so it's just like wasting time. I've encountered some out of depth wands. Walk around a corner, a kobolt blasts you to death in one shot. Great.

How do I use the reaching brand

I mean like how do I attack someone without moving into them? Tab doesn't work on low health.

Out of depth stuff is really frustrating (level 1 and 2)

Yes, you can just start over, but it's a waste of my time to die on level 1 or 2. I'm not talking I did this or that dumb, I'm talking about a way out of depth monster or a unique spawning with a wand of disenigration. What are you supposed to do about that? Oh, die. "But whiny newb, the devs d...

Re: Bye bye victory dancing

How is this new system going to affect humans? Everything I've read so far is if you have 0 or -1 apt you will have a really hard time at least in beg-mid of game. It seems to me humans, who always have a 0 apt would therefore have been nerfed, but weren't they already kind of a hard species?

Nearly Inaccessible Temple

This happened to me recently.

I thought the temple was supposed to be something you always got. Well this time the game decided I would not get temple and encased the staircase in translucent rock wall. Seriously? Should this even be possible?

Re: Skill training levels

Thanks, Does armor and shields then work the same way? You only want the skill to go as high as needed to remove penalties?

Fighting then I assume you want on at all times.

Skill training levels

I'm starting to think I train my skills all wrong. I leave my weapon skill on the whole game, usually turn off fighting, leave armor, shield on.

But what I'm getting is that there is an optimal part to train these to. Is there a spreadsheet or a summary of what the skills useful levels are?

Re: Uses for the wand of polymorph other

Here is a thought. Polymorph other does not seem to heal the creature. If you want to use it for xp farming, weaken the creature first then polymorph it. Whatever it turns into will at least be weaker.

Armour skill training up to

Hello, I am trying to use heavier armour (than I intend to use) to train the skill up to the point that I reduce the penalties with the armor I want to use. Am I right in assuming that the optimal is having armour skill equal or greater than double the evasion penalty ? I'm playing a human fighter a...

Smiting - I hate smiting

This is just a cheap way the game kills you. It isn't used much, but this is my first time seeing Roka. Wow, just wow, Oh Roka is SURROUNDED by creatures preventing you from killing him quickly? What? A quarter of them are priests? Smiting does ~15? Well, thats 75 damage almost a turn and there is a...

What is the best way to find the timed vaults?

I seem to find them rarely, sewers is the one I run into the most and even that is very rare. I am assuming auto explore is too time wasting and likely makes it less common to get to these in time, but what is the best way to find them?

Starting stats weapon choice alterations

I dunno if this has been mentioned before, but since it hasn't been changed I will assume not. I'm pretty sure your starting stats are determined by your race/class choice. This is great and all so that human fighters v human mages (of any type really) see states more ideal to their profession, BUT!...
