Not such a great find in itself, but nice in sequence.

My previous MdFi got ambushed by two snakes and died of poison shortly after them. The next had an armour of poison resistance right in the starting vault.

You can read this forum several times a day and still notice the official release of 0.8 four days late. :-D

Does the to-hit-malus from wearing too heavy armour also apply to ranged weapons? I don't think I've ever seen a message stating that, but it seems too good to be true.

Had a similar one recently, the bug was already fixed when I reported it.

Still leaves the question if triple swords get three brands now ;-)

Hunters are so, so, sooooo hosed when beserked. Shoot my crossbow? Too beserk. Swap to axe? Too beserk. Wands? Spells? Just use your speed to run to the place where it's most convenient for the monsters to butcher your passed out not-yet-corpse.

One thing that sticks out with your spriggan is the complete lack of fighting skill. Fighting gives hp, so you want to train that a bit on every char. Put your new knowledge of victory dancing to use on some rats when you have spare xp.

Grabbing as many as possible and then dropping most of them again gets the job done, but is kind of backwards... and I dont like to be overloaded even alone in my stash.

Well I can confirm that it works, once or twice I managed to apport it. No idea what the book was, nothing special most likely, but every early spellbook is good.

Look at the ctrl-o screen, it tells you on which levels a branch can occur once you are in the general range. And maybe you are lucky and your char has seen the stairs you as the player missed.

In addition it would be nice to label the zipped version "portable" or somesuch, it is a bit unusual that zip/installer versions differ after you are done installing, with the zipped one keeping the files in one folder while the installer version spreads them around the system.

Do you get emotionally attached to particularly promising characters? Not to characters, but to promising games. I would hate losing that +6+9 stabby quickblade, but don't care much about rafa046 who wields it. Roughly how many games of Crawl have you played? About how many of those were wins? Spre...

Another creepy one: The Ely altar with water corners, 4 trees and a friendly quokka... except that there was a quokka corpse and two more corpses and nothing in sight what could have killed them, no traps to be found either; but all still warm when I found the place. Most non-fun for me is the way autoexplore decides which stuff on the floor is worth a visit. Why do I have to hope the kobold with the shiny dagger leaves an otherwise useless corpse, just to make autoexplore go there?
