Re: playing demigods

If it were me I would just always have long swords on training until it was done. I learned a while ago high stats just makes it easier to wield bigger weapons with low skill levels. You could have it at 40% of the exp and could easily rotate two sets of additional skills in to whatever level you wa...

Re: Nagas

I read Fedhas protects plants from LRD damage, so it's probably good for you. Might want to grab petrify as well if you use it a lot. The number really isn't based on a whim or randomness at all. It's mostly how much exp you can get by a certain stage of the game before you begin the next. Like, how...

Re: Silence!

Silence is awesome. Makes it so much easier to clean up heavy casting branches or some heavy smiting.

You can also combo the skill with darkness to help thwart those mummies not quite close enough.

Re: Wizard Start

that spell book kinda needs all those spells to be effective later on in the dungeon. conjure flame will always be good for mindless things that just move into it no matter what, like most undead, animals, and big-dumb guys. it also acts as a shield to things that will wait. slow+blink let you flee ...

Re: playing demigods

Last game I played I was running a FoChei with 50str and 37int. Was casting level 9 spells at 9% with 27 armour and 27 in the school. Cleared branches of hell to go from 20-27. spell power was 2 pips short of max. Had 3 items of +5 +5 +7 int. So for level 9 spells full Int is great on Demi-Gods. You...

You have a wide variety of skills at low levels. Pick 4 offensive skills and get them to 15 first. min delay for that sword. long sword, conjuration, poison, stealth. Then do the same thing for 4 defensive skills. Fighting, dodging, shields, invocations. Turn skills off when they reach the goal. Rin...

bailey is either a breeze or has something difficult in it. maybe some Orc:2 orcs type warrior. I always use magic mapping for those, because the exp is useful early game. You can find it easily enough without. That square in the mini map to indicate what your screen displays is the unit of range fo...

At the beginning your choice of Race/Class/God/skills has the ability to make the early dungeon a cake walk. boosts to stats can help a lot.

Re: DsGl^Kiku in need of direction

yeah i saw the relic name, he has two latajang. Just a typo. he could skip spell casting, and just use invocation. I don't see how invocation to 15 is a waste. Spell casting is just to help with food cost until necromutation is found. You could always share your own advice rather than commenting on ...

Re: DsGl^Kiku in need of direction

Considering your current defenses, stats, and lack of spell casting with 10/15 in dungeon cleared I would do this: At the same time train Fighting, Dodging, and Necromancy to skill level 15. And, Staves to mindelay. Right now your more melee, and you need to get into casting spells sooner. Next, tra...

Re: on finite, unlimited resources (arrows)

Hey, it's funny that you mentioned that about the mechanic similarity... I'm fairly certain ammunition has always been a main point of interest in range combat. "Range" is just the "style" of combat. off topic comment, but i'd like to petition renaming melee combat as health comb...

Re: on finite, unlimited resources (arrows)

How far away from a Rogue-like game do you want to take this would be a first good question. I think the main point of interest for ranged combat is the frugal use of ammo vs being a spendthrift of ammo. Finding a "fun" implementation for that mechanic seems to be the challenge. You could ...

I kinda like that spell book. Using a spear or any ranged weapons works well with it.

only problem is mephitic cloud ties the other skills together nicely, but need 3 schools.

I try to work around that using high INT characters or chei. +apt to poison/fire/conj help.

for rf+++ and int+2 i'd take that over the 2 ac. damage for AC is basically like a dice role. 1dAC. That's why dodge/repel is important for you.

Re: [CiP] HEAE Ash

level 6 repel missile would be very good for Vaults and beyond. Once you hit The Depths and Vault:5, consider training skills from 15-16 to 19-20. I find it's a waste at times as a hybrid to go past skill level 15 or 16 before Depths and Vault. For Armour you'd probably be sticking with any decent h...

I tend to start DG wizard. For more mana. Pretty standard stuff. Level relevant skills related to starter book to level 15 or 16 first. I tend to clear the regular dungeon, orc, some of elf and lair to do this. Usually you just go full in spells or you stagger in melee training skills and defense tr...

Slowly kill monsters one at a time. It might help to go back to easier levels where a few monsters have spawned. If I remember correctly, ring of neg resistance only helps if it's equipped before you become drained. About Sonja, I learned yesterday that you can one hit her with Chei's Slouch ability...

If you have resist fire 3 and a few immolation scrolls, that also works well with a ton of jellies being spawned. Though, I tend to do that as a Fo of chei.

Re: I'll never win Chei

Weakness of melee is large packs with ranged attacks or just being surrounded. So as Chei, I would never approach enemies early game. Back up once or twice, then wait for melee or start attacking at range. Use those abilities vs large packs. Always worth it. Slow them down when surrounded. Draw in r...
