Slime 6 is rather easy if you know how to fight TRJ. Clearing V5 is not necessary for a third rune.

What do you mean by hybrid? Melee with support spells? Conjurations mage that kills popcorn with weapons? These can be two completely different types of characters.

You can reduce the effect of the spamminess by making the spell give a status that constantly drains your mp until you cancel the effect. This would let charms function like in the OP without the recasting.

Constantly on old-style swiftness is better than old-style swiftness on a timer for the exact reason that current rMsl is better than old rMsl.

That robe of Folly is really bad. Also if you get and use necromutation, the *Confuse on the amulet is rather scary as well.

Can we remove this Nethack-like interaction please? It doesn't introduce any meaningful decisions. You *don't* lose access to the rune when saccing both Earth Magic and artifice, you just get to do something really tedious instead.

Searing Ray is an awesome mp-efficient spell in Lair. It should be used against frequently, especially when not right next to the stairs. You don't have to use it against packs. It's good for single-target as well.

Blaster casters don't even have to dump xp into weapon skills to do decent damage vs popcorn in melee, though if you're playing Chei, you should probably put some there in case something non-trivial shows up when you're out of mp.

If you have Crystal Spear as a blaster in extended, you likely also have Shatter. Shatterninja is a great way to deal with Ereshikghsel.

The reason people don't play blasters without melee isn't that weaponless blasters are weak or lack defenses or are hard to play. It's because constantly running to the upstairs to regen mp is extremely annoying.

Monster stasis is almost completely useless, so it's something the majority of players wouldn't notice. Until the almost-impossible-to-actually-happen case where it's relevant actually happens and it kills them. It imposes a cognitive load on the player for no meaningful game change.
