Of course, if your streak breaks on the 10th game, then you just give up and don't play for the rest of the tournament since it is now literally impossible for you to win, so that would save some playtime... Or perhaps the point system for streaking could also be changed, if this idea is adopted......

how about only counting the first game played for each species/background? should cut down on the grind without much if any negative impact on casual players. probably increases variance at the highest level but if that's even a bad thing i think it's still the lesser evil.

i think the second is much easier to read at a glance (at least as long as you know what you're looking for), since there is more redundancy distinguishing the names from each other. it gets more taxing if there are only a few letters that differ.

iirc X > lets you cycle through portals that you can enter, and skips shops. doesn't help much on levels with other portals, but otherwise it's convenient. i would prefer a better long term fix but it's something in the meantime.

ouch. well, you can try to go northeast and loop around to avoid the eel on the current screen, it can't follow you over the bridge. you're probably likely to die while walking away but there's a chance. if there are more eels that way i guess random effects or reading scrolls blindly are your outs.
