What you could do is put it all in the ready() function and condition it to only run once :

It's not very elegant, but it should do what you want.

Unfortunately what I want to do is change options while in the middle of autoexploring, which you're telling me is impossible (short of rewriting autoexplore in Lua).

Demigods can be pretty hard to play, I would rather advise you to play Gr or Hu for a mage (GrEE is very strong, IE is a very strong background for anyone).

That chain mail probably gives way better defenses than the faerie dragon scales, without sacrificing rCorr. Try them both on and take the one which gives the most AC+EV. I would not dare go to Slime with a MiBe using Mace&Flails anyway.

You could probably survive any of the two. Your low MR would be really annoying in both of these (Banishment for Elf, Mark for Vaults) so take your pick. Also you haven't done Crypt ! Do Crypt ! I may have misread bit I think nobody mentioned this : do not enter Vaults:5. When you clear Vaults:4, go to the Depths. Vaults:5 is brutal.

The thing is a consistent system is more efficient than an inconsistent one. Having a targeter that always points to the same spot is better than a targeter that always targets the same spots except in some edge cases where it targets somewhere else.
