I would strongly recommend not walking around with negative fire resistance, that ring of ice give you nice little boost to your spells, but it's not worth it if you get killed by someone with a flaming weapon or a fire dragon or some such.

To add to that, remember that walking away from a monster or monsters faster than you can still be a good idea, if you're leading them somewhere worthwhile. Even a chei character should do this sometimes. For example, lets say you're a chei worshipping normal speed race using a non-axe, with 6 stars...

Throw large rocks at double speed with finesse, have dith duplicate them. You're a boulder throwing machine gun!

TSO+Mak for endgame

It is unique in that aspect, but I don't think that's actually a very worthwhile distinction.

Weapons of venom might become absurdly good if poison stacked without limits though...

I'll second dith, as long as you aren't talking about a FE. Extra stealth, dodging bonus, and shadow attacks? Good stuff. Sif might give you more spells, and let you cast them more, and veh might give you some spells, and make them easier to use, but Dith will actually make your damage output go up.

As an experiment I intend to try to treat hexes like I used to treat charms, something to try to train up on almost any character once I found a few worthwhile spells. If you don't want to berserk on a turn then you can just not make a melee attack on that turn, since making a melee attack is literally the only way for berserkitis to trigger.
