Since you're going melee you will want transmutations to up your hp/ac. Even ice form is better than nothing, assuming there isn't any fire around, but ideally you want either statue or dragon form. Your plate will never stop interfering, Which is one of the reasons I like light armour bezerkers. You can never reduce armour penalties to 0, all of the reductions are percentage reductions that stack multiplicatively. Necromute is amazing. Chei is decent in your first Zig, but really no god is as good for megaZigs as Makhleb is, up to you when you want to switch. The bonus to all of your magic abilities is great, but you can replace that with another 3-4 skill levels in all your spell schools, which isn't that much experience to ask ...
