Re: MiBe going for first win

It has been awhile since I've played, but if things haven't changed too much, that longbow can win you the game. If you're not using a shield it might make sense to tank up on armor and impale things from a distance.

Is this a good or a bad artifact? Genuinely curious. I'd be inclined to say bad on pretty much 95% of characters.

Doing a dry run might have been a good idea for a build like yours. I'm glad the orb runs are harder now, they used to be really snoozy and perfunctory. My last few have been properly tense. You had a particularly hard run because your character was never going to do well against pan lords. But you ...

Okay, stay calm, you can do this. Shadow creatures is very strong in Zot. Just fyi. Right now you are way ahead of the power curve, and that's going to make you overconfident. So you're playing one of those games of Crawl where it basically begs you to win. Let it! I'm pretty sure that your best weapon is that +12 battle axe of freezing, but the vamp axe is good too. Both are WAY better than your rapier. The large shield requires too much skill to be useful at this point,...

I dunno man, I think Duvessa is right. Lajatang of pain is an especially good weapon for any character who trains necro, and with heroism, which should basically always be activated, he's already at minimum delay. Using a suboptimal brand like venom for spider is a recipe for death as well.

I think one issue with this is that unique monsters and portals are overall pretty dangerous. Seems to me that Crawl is filled with situations where if you have to ask whether you should or not you 100% shouldn't. For this character I would suggest that you try for the Abyssal rune. You have a lot of sources of teleportation, a way to consistently output a lot of damage, and have good defenses. If you really want to try extended maybe you should try a HoFi or HoGl of Okawaru, transitioning to TSO once you have gotten the 2 lair runes, the silver rune, and the slimy rune. I think it's the easiest personally, but there are other very strong combos as well.
