Isn't a sultana 70 food points? You're just saving 1 sultana per lightning bolt and now you can't outrun an elephant if you catch it on the corner.

What of warding had an effect like the D&D spell Protection from Evil, where it hinders evil creatures from attacking you and prevents summoned demons, devils, etc., from attacking you at all. Not to get too off topic, but in response to improving warding, what if it had an activation/food cost and gave a % chance that all creatures would be warded (unable to attack) and a higher % that otherworldly ones would be warded as well.

If you're going necromutation to deal with spell hunger you're doing it wrong.

There's plenty of food in the game, unless you're hasting up and firestorming every time you see an enemy you should be fine. Eat those chunks!

If you want this kind of challenge I think you can go play v.8 or below? Back in the old days you had to actually bash things to learn fighting, and read scrolls with exp in your bank to learn spellcasting, etc.

I've found that OoD can be tough against OoF because the latter move so fast and can often dodge them. Then I'm stuck tanking with wavering orbs. You OoD OoF killers, how do you mitigate that?

Another plus for prism is that while it's quite loud, it's only quite loud once is explodes. You can cast a prism in a nest of sleepers and wait for it to cook.

I've had decent luck with MuIE as well. It's all about surviving the beginning of the game and getting Sif's channeling online. Once you have that you have a lot more freedom. I would say that as a mummy you really need to abuse the lack of a food clock. Rest as much as you want. Forget level 1-5 on...

I've only cleared 1 Zig, so not the master, but you definitely need something that can kill faster than just tornado. As for abandoning Sif, well, that's either going to take many, many thousands of turns in the Temple, or is suicide, because her wrath is devastating.

Ouch...that's tough.

I agree on drinking the potion of speed first, then digging and running. You have 17 EV, which isn't bad, so you might not get hit.

I hear you Psi, but from experience, playing a caster of Jiyva is going to seriously limit the amount of spells you have access to. Not that you can't do it, but it is far from an ideal pairing.

First off, I want to say, SLIME FOR THE SLIME GOD!

I'm not so sure about early Jivya for a caster though, because the jellies will eat most of the books on the ground. Consider it highly unlikely that you'll be getting any books that aren't in Slime 5 if you worship Her Squelching Majesty.

If you're serious about Bows or Crossbows a shield isn't going to work. If you're taking potshots at fleeing enemies or enemies who are closing on you, maybe, but generally shields and bow weapons don't work. Blessed bow not so much, blessed longbow, absolutely. Only major caveat is that you need to have a decent amount of stockpiled unbranded ammo to make it through extended using a bow. Minimum 300 arrows, could be more or less depending on how long it takes you to get through Pan.

This is like finding a +12 Artifact CPA on D:2 when you're a DeFe. Salute the RNG and move on.

GSC is SOOO good. Even with all that shield I would be tempted to put 7 more levels into M&F and use one.

Yeah...totally agree on not endgame, but I'm still in lair...I'm basically trading 2 points of EV for 5 points of slaying, which I would do on most any character.

As a corollary, am I nuts for thinking this is a totally wearable set of leather for a melee dodger? 5 points of slaying is pretty golden in my book, even at the cost of my dodging stat.

You can cast haste and icestorm and have rF+++ (and you'll even have a pip if you get the horns mutation from an Orb). I think you can clear Zot. Going to anywhere else is going to give you mutations, and then you won't even get a win out of it at all.

Unarmed with a shield and armour?

Is there any clear documentation for the effects of armour and shields on unarmed? If I have my shield skill high enough to fully reduce the spellcasting penalty, or my armour skill high enough to eliminate the EV penalty, does that eliminate the effect of the armour on my unarmed combat?
