I take down a floor, then ctrl-f "." to see what landed there. In the list, I'll see "glowing short sword" highlighted in blue, but "antimagic dagger" will not be highlighted. Even though I don't know the slay amount to the antimagic dagger, shouldn't it be highlighted ...

make stats less spoilery--clearer to new players which stats they should invest in for which characters. Much of this can be resolved by having the game manual provide a less vague list of what each Attribute does. Searching on "Strength", "Dexterity" and "Intelligence"...

At this time, it is confusing to the unspoiled who encounter evokers after the first; there is nothing (text or otherwise) to indicate that it is sub-optimal to pick it up and carry it alongside your first identical evoker, even with the fact that it's listed as discharged.

I think reducing overall monster XP rewards and adding a mechanic that rewarded exploration/discovery with XP (scaled to depth) would be interesting, especially for non-combat builds. Once I understood the Orb Run, I pre-explored all stairs for autotravel maximization, and blocked off any stairs that led up to dead ends. Sometimes, I used wands of digging/disintegration to resolve those pesky swirly staircase entrances.

Lab has the best all-around rewards, and if you prep for the minotaur, you can usually take him. Be aware that he uses the rewards. Volcano usually only has fire-branded and rF+ stuff; sometimes you get lucky, other times you get one of those two iterations that either destroy all the floor items or...
