In fact Chei has no drawbacks. Most people look at his slow movement and no haste
as a drawback, but I see it as preventing you from unnecessary movement or haste
(but necessary without Chei because sadly all stats are -15 lol).

yes, under statue form, you can use shield.
but you should worry about skill management. Lv6 Tmut/Earth + shield skill.... a lot of exp is needed.
and disable off-hand punch.

personally i don't feel shield is needed under statue form because stone skin+statue form is still enough defense.
