Re: This spell is too difficult for you to memorize!

Are you converting melee to conjurations? I don't know that I've seen that before. Converting stabber to Conjurations. Maybe I'm just a bit bad, but stabbing becomes unreliable and I want some backup high-damage spells to compensate. Maybe I just don't have enough training in those spelll schools y...

This spell is too difficult for you to memorize!

What affects what spells you can memorize? Is it Int or Spellcasting or the armor I'm wearing? It is some other factor? I'd much rather not lose a very promising character to being unable to deal good damage when I'm transitioning to being a Conjurations-focused nuker again.

Re: Why Elf? (Serious question)

Why not Split it so Abyss 1 and Abyss 2 can't access each other. Abyss 1 is where you get abyssed to by enemies. Abyss 2 requires a portal. There are no portals in the depths, only one in...Elf 3; similar placement to where an elf rune would be in the loot vault. That's a legitimately awesome idea....

Re: longbow of flame for MiBe?

Until you've reached mindelay on your weapon of choice, train its skill. If you find yourself frequently dropping to very low health, it's OK to train fighting or armor for a bit. Otherwise, touch no other skills. Train to use that bow once you've got 24 skill in Long Blades.

Re: Any tips on these class combinations?

I would suggest a Conjurer. All those lasers and bolts suddenly don't harm your plant buddies and they form a living wall between you and the direction of all those spells. I've never actually played a Merfolk, why do you say it synergises with the plants?

Re: Any tips on these class combinations?

Yred is not for Necromancers (it's for melee dudes who want strong allies and some cool death-themed abilities), Kiku is great for "casters" and is probably the best "stabber" god, Chei is super-awful for Nagas. I mean melee naga of Chei. At that point, my speed is so low it's u...

Re: Any tips on these class combinations?

Have you tried Vampire Enchanter? It's probably a lot better for new players as long as you know to stay low on blood except when you need to regen and remember to use Bat Form. It's like Spriggan Enchanter but better. As to your current playstyle, try a Naga melee brawler(not Berserker) of Cheibria...

Experience. Having 27 in every skill easily outclasses any other potion. BeneMut as well as healing could be useful too.

Is it viable? Since you have the constriction. it's pretty easy to damage enemies with unarmed, and their UC apt isn't too terrible. What makes them less commonly played? They seem good.

I was looking for some roguelikes when my fancy nice computer broke down and all I had was a laptop from 2007 that ran a pirated Russian version of Vista 32 bit, had a malfunctioning wifi card, weirdass user file corruption that prevented me from installing anything I couldn't change to a different ...

CiP: GrFi of Oka. Easily my best character. Any advice?

So... this is by far the best character I've ever had. I usually rarely reach Temple, let alone clearing Ice Caves as my first post-lair branch. Am I doing anything obviously wrong?(Besides my lack of gloves and boots I just noticed while glancing at the chardump) Also, I never knew that gargoyles g...

I'm sorry, I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but that advice is not very good, especially for this player. Following those steps creates a number of problems, the most significant of which is probably that you are unable to kill anything with more hp than a regular orc without using invisibilit...

A few questions about SpEn

First of all, I'm really new to DCSS, and so far, it's my favorite roguelike. It's got the right amount of BS RNG on both my side and the enemy side. After getting a reasonable grasp of the basics, I've learned of the existence of SpEn, which I've liked so far, but I do have a few questions. 1: Shou...
