Sorry again for my bad English. I edit my post.( For me Xom always was the god of dreams, so bad players are dreamers)

In my opinion Xom is very good designed. But there are better gods to be workshipped. It is a pity.

My thoughts were also to make the fights more dynamic. In DC the player has a big advantage to fight in corners. In real fight the dead end is the dead end. But perhaps you are right - it would be annoying.

I only play the console version. But have you thought about, to to make all tiles grayscale. I think the many colours are confusing. And when every monster group has its colour it is easier recognize.(And perhaps background shows health, and the unique ones in full colour)

...on the other hand decending up and down is not a real fight... But I see, the missing fleeing option is a problem. Perhaps more blinking scrolls. Or there are"double runed" doors in every level that can not be opened by monsters. Or something like a resting room on every floor.
