Re: Draining monsters should be temporary

Removing the XP loss from drain would be a nice side effect of this, encouraging a lot of newer players to use a brand/spell they would otherwise avoid.

Re: Removal: Fish ponds

Idea- replace fish with Deep Ones, that spawn when you walk next to water/in water, but will follow you on land. This will actually make water more of the zoning obstacle it is meant to be. We had monster octopodes fulfilling this role for a short time and then they got removed again. I'm not reall...

Re: What is the viability of a no-reading race?

Cursed equipment breaks on equip. This would be pretty cool in general. It's functionally the same as not generating that equipment in the first place, isn't it? Not necessarily. An orc warlord with a cursed -2 bardiche would be only slightly less effective at smacking you around than a warlord wit...

Re: Replace inner flame in AM book with pproj

What I think I would prefer would be to make Warper a ranged start. It's in a kind of weird place as "gladiator with tloc spells, I guess?" and apport/blink/pproj in their starting book all have obvious ranged uses. Warper as a ranged start makes so much sense that I don't know how it has...

Re: Replace inner flame in AM book with pproj

I think Inner Flame would be a lot less awkward to use if it just semi-bypassed MR like ?immolation does, and maybe had a long duration also like ?immo. Currently, you may need multiple casts of IF to get past the MR check, and then you still need to kill the monster before it gets into melee range ...

That can already happen with the current algorithm, with the right circumstances. In fact, I died to it once.

What about someone who converts to Sif Muna late in the game, already having a lot of spell skills? This sounds like it could result in being showered with quite a lot of books instantly, unless you scale differently for prior skill training.

Re: Discussion of Holy Enemies

I like most of the current holy enemies. I also felt that Silver Stars would have worked had their damage just been nerfed though, so take that with a grain of salt. EDIT: Also, I feel a small holy should be added so cherubs have something to buff. Perhaps priests or something? Holy Pan used to hav...

Re: Remove/Reform Lava Orcs

What if temperature was straightforwardly based on HP%, instead of tension and time? It's weird and not-good that it currently goes up constantly the longer you're in any monster's sight. I'm imagining it as being fixed to HP; e.g. 50% HP always meaning 50% temp.

How would this affect mutation roulette? Does the current state of random mutation give you 50% good or 50% bad, or is a random mutation taken from all possibilities? Currently I feel like roulette gives me good mutations significantly more often than bad ones. Would this nerf roulette? (yes, I am a...

FR: Mark corpses throwable if you have Corpse Rot memorized

For a player who is casting Corpse Rot often, throwing corpses (or quivering them to be thrown later) is something that they will want to do often. Since corpses don't currently show up under the firing or quivering menus, this becomes an interface hassle as it means looking up the corpse's inventor...

Actually, I really like the sound of the weapon branding idea, especially now that the low-level branding spells have been removed. On a related note, can we remove sickness melee from other monsters too? Purple ugly things and ghouls have this too, and there sickness still accomplishes nothing. For purple very ugly things and ghouls you're even likely to quaff curing anyways because they also cause rot status. Ancient zymes in ...

Re: Stealth penalty for Og/Tr in shallow water

Since this is size-based, it means Centaur and Naga also do not get stealth penalties. Of these four, it doesn't matter in practice for Ce/Og/Tr, since those three have terrible stealth anyways. Probably 0 stealth since they typically favor wearing heavy armour. Na is the only one with good stealth,...

Using shorter duration summons did. I would still support a change to the monster ab...
