for me it was really annoying to use distortion weapon in the Shoals Right. And I have a loud distortion weapon on a character that desperately wants to keep enemies close. But I really would rather not get Abyss:3d. Spider was a cake-walk, but conjure flame and animate dead are insane there, anyway.

Well there are generally enough scrolls of silence for liches, and like I said, evo can trivialize the same enemies that hexes can. Most of the arguments against ghosts are "I pressed tab SIX TIMES and it didn't die!" Therefore they make the game faaarr too difficult and should be removed.

well, it's not actually an interesting decision because the only time you'd want to use lignification with zin is when you don't have access to sanctuary, and in that case you can just abandon zin and quaff lig to avoid penance For the 1% of players that would affect, can't they just do that anyway...

Huh. That's weird. Spider is generally a cakewalk for a hex-based character. Ghost moths are the only problem. (I used potion of lignification + summons, and still had to quaff a bunch of heal wounds/curing.) Snake is tougher - I didn't die last time I did it, but I'm sure that guardian serpents can...

Sense surroundings and + 7 AC are pretty huge, though. (And I didn't notice I lost robust somewhere along the way.)

Still, Xom gave me two rods, my current weapon, and enough money to buy my current armor 5-6 dungeon levels early.

Right. In stable right now Kiku always gives you corpse rot, which kills basically everything until lair, and does SOMETHING to damn near every enemy in the game.

And I'm not sure why people are down on animate skeleton. I have plenty of characters who use it regularly in Zot.

Yeah, I've never actually won with Quazal. Everything is super easy until you run into that one level of depths with stairs only on opposite sides of a long level. Then you die.
