are you running this through fsim? i'm bad at this but i'm pretty sure a +5 demon whip or morningstar should be better than a +10 hammer.

those two weapons which you already have (at xl13!) are very good and i would probably use them (you want clarity for trog's wrath though).

edit: well yeah what crate said i guess, i don't bother with that. trck is a bit of an acquired taste though. anything that can wear plate easily works semi-reliably.

i use iterm, but i think you shouldn't have problems with modern built-in terminals. i think it's pre-snow leopard that their implementation was pretty messed up though, so your os version may be a factor too.
