I think you might be confusing mountain dwarves with Kenku. Kenku (A copyrighted bird folk from D&D) was changed to Tengu (A bird like creature from Japanese mythology) to avoid potential issues. At least that's what the wiki says, that change was before my time so I may be mistaken.

Abyss is god awful plus the added dollop of awful tacked on because kobolds can randomly send me there. Shoals are pretty painful too. Unless I have perma-fly/swim then its one of my favorites. Tomb could use some improvement but is alright. The rest of the game is good.

If elven armour were to disappear would there be a chance of seeing a light, magical, or well crafted Ego that lessens an armour's encumbrance rating or spell casting penalty?

Maybe combine Elf/Dwarf into Master work which has less encumbrance and resists corrosion.
