It's not broken, but once you've got 7 or 8 stars in a couple of religions you can put workable combo's together, as long as you do it on the way in to the fight rather than waiting till things have already gone south.

Re: Death by poison is bad for the game

Do I really need to explain why having chance completely override player skill is counterproductive to the purpose of a game which is explicitly meant to reward skilful play? Not at all, it's a valid point. Can we broaden the issue to early-game difficulty in general though? If we were going to bro...

It's a logical conclusion, not an unfounded opinion. If you want to dispute it, then dispute it on grounds of logic or earn my contempt. Your premises include the arbitrary value "bad", therefore your opinion remains perfectly valid and you are completely entitled to both hold and state it.

The thing here is you don't actually need much xp with elyvilon, because you have elyvilon. First impressions of Elyvilon

Okay, I don't play Elyvilon followers/Healers much, but at the same time one of the great things about crawl is how many weird and wonderful possibilities it contains, so along with Vampire Monks of Mahkleb I'm finding High Elf Fighters of Elyvilon cropping up in my rotation a fair bit these days. In most cases, when having even moderately high spellpower, the solution for hostile scorpions is to summon more scorpions. Speaking as someone who rarely plays summoners (and dies fast when they do), and tends to forget to use their summoning spells when playing a wizard, that advice sounds a litt...

My argument isn't meant to be a logical one, I'm stating my opinon on a subject of personal taste. Swearing at people whose identity you don't know is also considered bad form in some parts too. You do not get to argue realism when it comes to game design. Ever. 1) You ain't the boss of me. 2) My point was about the feel of the game, rather than realism or unrealism.
