Re: How do you stop auto travel

If you are playing Webtiles I generally doesn't stop no matter what you do - even if you press a key. In downloaded versions of the game, generally pressing any key will stop Auto-travel. I wonder, why is the web version such a terrible mutant? Is there a deep reason against using the downloadable ...

Using putty to play on the servers. It has access to a lot more fonts. You can actually change the windows console font, but it requires registry hacking

Anyway, something ive noticed about .12. It seems like im in a perpetual state of starving, all the time. Even when im only using magic dart. This is so annoying, i had almost no perm food by the time i got down there, and was of course at "near starving" when the centaur showed up. Even ...

Keyboard commands. I highly recommend leaning the VI-keys for movement, especially on a laptop. Saying things like "VI-keys" is not a way to work towards my understanding :D vi-keys means using the hjklyubn keys to move instead of using numpad. it may seem very annoying at first, but it w...

Why do you actually need to use the mouse? Im interested to know. I use a laptop that does not have a numpad. So I need to use the mouse to move, when I am not autoexploring. (Yes, I know, this is not an ideal setup for Crawl :D) Other than that, I use the mouse to manage equipment, drink a potion,...

Re: Ascii or tiles?

Let us add that the abstractness of glyphs is not the main disadvantage of console. To me, the main disadvantage is that I cannot use the mouse. In this regard, webtiles version is a cousin of console in my eyes: so uncomfortable that it borders unplayability. Why do you actually need to use the mo...

Try backing up when you see the first jackal so you fight them one at a time instead of all at once. From my experience the jackals always follow each other, even if only one is aggressive the others stay right with him. Thats why theyre so annoying to deal with on D1 Definitely not always. You can...

as for SpSt, you can turn off stabbing when it's high enough, 14 or so and you can kill anybody with it anyway. Am I correct in guessing that even though you might instakill anything asleep or paralyzed, continuing to train stabbing will increase the random backstabs while in plain melee? Theres no...

Re: Some advice for the Zot floors please!

The best thing to do is actually just not kill them at all. Just dive through the first 4 levels of zot. Magic map zot:5 and buff up and tele around until your near the orb then run for it :) If you really want to kill them you could do it with poison arrow, but youll need some form of channelling. ...

4. Should I level stealth? I always keep this skill off. There is no character that should ever turn stealth off, ever. Probably not even trolls worshipping TSO. doesnt really look like there was much you could do there, just really unlucky. I do wonder why it says you were helpless and unable to dodge the arrow? Centaurs have always been possible on d:2, nothing wrong with it. Normally youd expect a centaur to not even wake up most likely for a SpEn, so the...

you can easily take zot with that char. dont bother clearing zot, just get down to zot:5 and either kill the dudes or buff up and tele around until your close to the orb and run for it, whichever you prefer. the tele route is the easiest way of doing things usually.

What exactly is heroism? I've never played trunk. And doesn't heavy armour like Dragon Armour cripple your Unarmed Combat? I think one of the problems with Earth Elementalists, and with Earth Magic generally is that there is no race that is particularly good for using it. it wont work at all, the penalty for gda is way to high. Assuming max all skills, 30 str and 9 dex, youll have a great 11 ev. A pretty crappy trade for the incredible amount of xp youd have to dump into dodging.
