If mistaking Mermaids for female merfolk is really a problem, the easy solution would be to edit their descriptions to explicitly mention that they're a separate but related species.

There's not really a magic number for armor anymore. A decent rule of thumb is 'try to have at least as much Str as the armor's encumbrance,' but that's only a general guideline.

You'll want to pump up armor for a bit to benefit from that 14 base AC, which will also reduce the dodge penalty. You'll see pretty big returns on that front, since encumbrance is basically applied twice: once your base Evasion and and again to the bonus EV from the dodge skill.

My gut instinct is that making Trog even better is probably not a good thing (miasma is crazy powerful). I don't really see why Burn Spellbook would need to be reworked in the first place; whether they're called tomes or spell books, they're still equally flammable.

Normally you wouldn't since all short blades have a delay of 1.2 or less, but cutlasses are special-cased to have a min delay of 0.5 instead of 0.6
