CiP: DsAk, looking for spell advise

This is my first time getting anywhere with either an AK or a Demonspawn. I think I've been pretty lucky with early item finds, and so far things have been a breeze. I'm working on getting Haste online, and starting to think that I should get some more magic afterward. I'm wondering what spells it w...

Re: Understanding spell power

As a complete aside, this thread has made me want to see how BFW is doing since I stopped playing back in 2008 or so.

Unarmed on a flexible character

Lately I've been playing a lot of characters that I build in the direction that the game seems to be pushing me. I'll skill based on the items I find, choose a god based on the first altar that seems even reasonably appropriate to the character, and so forth. The question that has arisen is under wh...

Re: God for a SpEn?

If you want to be more melee focused, I would go Okawaru, but (in terms of decreasing liability on spells) Makhleb, Ashenzari, Fedhas, Lugonu, Kiku, and Vehumet are all good choices. One of the great things about SpEn is that once they get invisibility castable, they are incredibly flexible, able to...

Re: How to play fedhas?

This is true, but it also makes rain clouds and those can drown monsters by turning shallow water into deep water. (unless this has changed recently, I never actually use rain to drown things but it definitely worked this way in the past) With Wizmode testing in both 0.13 and 0.14, I was unable to ...

Re: How to play fedhas?

Do note that (at least per my wizmode testing) rain won't ever put monsters in deep water, even if they're rDrown and/or Large.

Re: Hardness scale for dungeon features

Image

Seems like it would affect game balance (especially when it comes to vaults) the least, while providing a cohesive 'hardness' scale.

Re: Hardness scale for dungeon features

Would balance be shifted all that much if we kept the current hardness level but made G. Crystal Desintigratable?

Re: CIP: HaAs of Trog

1-shot a couple pan lords, beat up the Royal Jelly, looted some Elves. Probably going to go Abyss, and then decide whether or not to do Hell. Still have no clue how to beat Tomb. This is the most successful character I think I've ever had. I've dipped my head into some of the hells a few times, but ...

Re: CIP: HaAs of Trog

This won't be my first win, just my first online. I'm debating between winning now, but currently my highscore on runes is 5, and I think I'd like to do more. I only have one !mut, and my best resist armours are all robes. There is a d - [D:7] the +2 leather armour of Inquiry {rElec rPois MR++} (661...

Re: CIP: HaAs of Trog

Cleared Forest, Depths, Vestibule, and Zot 1-4. A little frightened on how to proceed, due to not having a Mut amulet or much MR to do elf and find it. Other than that, things are looking good. Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup version 0.14-a0-1500-g6a017cb (webtiles) character file. Weeksy the Halfling Ball...

Re: CIP: HaAs of Trog

I can kill monsters if I stab them, but more and more things either see invisible or have too many HD for me to sneak up on reliably. I'm guessing I'm going to have to start using up my needles until I've got better evo. Oh well, not the end of the world. I've got Forest, which I've never completed ...

Re: CIP: HaAs of Trog

Did Vaults 1-4, Snake 5, and a bit of Depths. Picked up a Mottled Dragon armour, noticed a trove that wants a +2 storm dragon armour (I have 1 EA scroll and the hide) Picked up a wand of hasting as well, but I'm still a little light on needles, which is annoying. I'm getting to the point that some o...

Re: CIP: HaAs of Trog

Finished Swamp, while training up throwing. Needles+low HD Nagas let me breeze through snake 1-4, and now I'm in Vaults. I found a nice rod that I'm considering charging up, and I'm debating between Mottled and Fire dragon armour, or b -the +3 troll leather armour of Distant Worlds {Acc+2 Dam+4 Curs...

CIP: HaAs of Trog

I've come to uncertain grounds as to where to optimally take this character. So far he seems pretty powerful, and I'm thinking I'll go into needlestabbing for the endgame, but I don't know if I should be focusing on throwing or defenses first, or where to go with armour. Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup ver...
