Just have 2 rolls that determine the effect
1st to determine if hit affects you at all, based on hd/spellpower/mr
2nd to determine how bad the effect is. more mr=lower duration.

this way confuse and other spells could remain a threat even in the late game.

You aren't in any danger period in extended if you play correctly, and that includes when tormenting enemies are nearby; that's the problem with crawl extended. But walking around with permanently 35% less HP in extended (or anywhere really) is certainly a good way to get in danger. by this logic y...

Supporting the change to amulet and buffing it to 50+(x*stealth skill) x being 3-5
The amulet slot altogether should have some additions to it. All the current ones are quite boring. (rMut, rCorr, Gourmand and Faith being situational, it only leaves you a choice between Clarity, Regen and Spirit)
