Re: YAVP: SpEn of Ashenzari (15 runes)

Sounds like a pretty exciting playthrough. Good stuff, man. Only thing that surprises me is I'm so used to seeing Poison Arrow on SpEns, but I guess Iron Shot replaced it.

Re: YAVP: MfIE of Fedhas, 3 runes

Fedhas is the one god I haven't tried yet, both due to not knowing how to apply him to a character and thinking that he's very underpowered. Clearly he's not UP, and I guess a merfolk would be optimal. I'll have to give him a try. For a 3-runer, he's definitely not UP. The only risk you run is not ...

Re: YAVP: MuWz^Sif- All Rune Dragon Spam Fiesta

I actually ended up using this as a template for my own MuSu, got my first 15-rune victory with it. Hadn't even seen postgame before that run.

Re: What is a strong IE race?

Demonspawn are also good. If they get the icemail mutation, you won't be wanting to use fire spells anyway, and they can get some wicked mutations.

Did he used to?

I forgot to mention, even starting stats aren't that important, since any good race will have decent stats by post-game time.

Re: Builds for extended game

Hey all, yesterday i had my first win with a NaWz, and now i want to see the extended game. I wonder what species/backgrounds are considered good for the extended game. Or is it a matter of taste and are there no bad combo's? One way i want to try the wizard again, cause i didn't see its full power...

Re: CIP and a couple of questions

1: Ring of Flames isn't gonna knock your socks off, but it's a decent spell. Depends on your playstyle, I guess.

2: Go with the robe of resistance. Archmagi gives you a little extra spell power, resistance gives you a lot of damage shaving against common elements.

Re: Wizard god

It should be noted that Sif's channeling is the safest and most reliable form of channeling, even if it's not the most powerful, and requires some skill investment. Sif Muna's pretty great for any character, really. Decks of summoning are extremely powerful, and the other decks give you lots of util...

Re: Anyone else **really** suck (but keep coming back for mo

I suck. I did win once...after like 3 years of playing on and off. I'm trying to win my first 15-runer, but the farthest I've come after my first victory was the hall of blades. Haven't even seen Zot since the first time I won.

Re: Class Rankings

Venom Mage - Sure they are pretty good early on but having to switch away from poisen spells seems like a waste to me. I used to think this, but VMs make early-game an absolute breeze, which is really convenient. Though poison magic is mostly useless later on, it's still surprisingly powerful in mi...

Re: Immutable Laws of the Dungeon of Zot

-Food will be extremely plentiful if you're playing a Spriggan or Mummy, as well as potions and rings of regeneration, in the case of the latter. -God gifts will always suck if they're not guaranteed gifts or somehow easy to influence. Trog will always give you animal skins, Oka will always give you...

Re: Dungeon Sprint

With Troll Berserkers, I usually end up starving before I even get to learn Brother in Arms from Trog. With Spriggan Enchanters, I do great until I run into enemies that can't be affected by Ensorcelled Hibernation, Confuse, and can see invisible or manage to attack me just fine despite me being inv...

Re: Is Zot Defence actually playable?

Alright, through some trial and error, I came up with a decent strategy. I played a Troll Priest of Yred, and I just used melee and created oklob saplings until I could animate legions of the undead, and used that around a bunch of corpses. Then I just filled the orb room with various towers and kep...

Re: Is Zot Defence actually playable?

I'm having trouble coming up with a good Zot Defense strategy. I tried out Jiyva, but the jellies constantly turn hostile to my oklob saplings and burning bushes, and end up killing them, making me waste valuable experience. Telling them to stop attacking doesn't work, I'm guessing because they're n...
