Ability to Haste yourself on tap was indeed too powerful; but the beam-targeted version of haste was unique as the only charms spell that can be used to buff Summons and permanent allies and that niche is worth keeping filled.

I don't think MODERN Ely is that good. Pre-reform Ely was broken/borderline broken (back with lesser healing other was free), current Ely...times I've tried to use it, I found that Piety Gain was too slow to make good use of it.
