So, with shield, and heavy armor, i often can't succeed at casting spells... training shield skill, armor skill, specific school skill, and spellcasting skill, all improve that... but my question is which improves it the most / what's the ratio of improvement... ie: in my train skill window, i see &...

I found +6 boots of rElec and run, is it just a 1 time piety hit that i can live with, or will i get penance or abandoned by my god?

This stuff is not on by default, and i have seen it in people's morgue files, but i don't know how to get it in mine?

ah, ok, so bellow the minimap and above my skill list, there is a monster list, which theoretically should be colored by monster threat, but all monsters are instead just their picture... in the 'tiles' changelog, i can see that the monster list is 'sorted by difficulty' but there's no other indicat...

also i'm not sure i asked this clearly anough: What is the monster list?

monster_list_colour: key,colour 'changes the default colour in the monster list, where by default monster list colour is based on threat level' so... the idea of colouring monster names via threat level is already implimented within this 'monster list' but i don't understand how I am to see the mons...

BTW that option didn't work ; the problem was my screen resolution, bellow a certain point it simply won't format the window with the log on bottom, switching to 1080p fixed.

I coulda sworn there's an init.txt option for this, but i can't find it, help?

I dunno why this happened, but how do i put it back where it belongs? The event log is at top left, ON TOP of the game, opacity is such that i can see the game beneath it, but the area where the log BELONGS is just going un-used, i'd prefer to put the log back where it belongs... I checked the init....

i went down to the bottom of snake pit, rounded a corner and there were 5 greater naga, who constricted me.. summoned bunches of berserked allies, and tried to teleport out, but it didn't work (i thought tele worked thru constrict boo) the end.

back to lvl 15, cleared all the easy stuff, now i need to know where to go, last time i went elf, and it had great gear, but it also killed me :P choices are Swamp, Spiders, Slime, Elves, or D:17 I'm immune to fire and draining attacks, have poison resistance, clarity, see invisible, and i'm a melee...

1) at 6 piety, is additional piety wasted? b) at 20 polearm skill, 0 shield skill, and 24 strength ; +0,+6 trident +0 buckler OR +4,+1 glaive of venom? I was thinking the +6 trident actually does almost the same dmg per swing as the +1 glaive, so why not stick with it and gain a shield for free :)

djinn share mana / hps as essence and expend essence at a 2:1 ratio when casting spells... whenever i've tried a djinn as any kind of caster, this 'doing dmg to yourself' effect has made it seem completely impractical/inferior to just playing another race as the same caster... it's nice, i'll grant ...

i died at lvl 14, 11, 11, 11, and 10 since the first character. basically always to either hill giants, orc knight/warlords, smite, bolts of frost, or summoned frost casting things.

at least i'm getting more of a feel for which monsters to be afraid of

trying a crossbow hunter of okawaru ; the ranged_combat wiki says the impact of using a buckler is a penalty of 25x(1-shield/2x27) does that mean it takes 27 shield skill to have no penalty? ; also it says xbows are 15 speed with 7 min delay ... so i take it i need 16 xbow skill to max my firing spe...

ack! died again to stupid smite and being surrounded by summoned things... as always i could easily have gotten away, but everything i'd encountered up until that point had been so easily dealt with, that i thought i could just smash face. boo hiss.

curious, is it worth learning spells while worshipping trog? like blink? or that one that drops a pit of fire at your feet so u can reach a polearm over it? I know i'd lose piety when memorizing, but i don't lose every time i cast do i?

So if my main goal is to take less dmg from arrows and spells, does AC help? does GDR help? does evade help? I know shields can block arrows...

is there a way to shout / make noise on a loop during a shift-5 mass_wait thing? ie: go to the corner at the edge of a room, and start yelling, so things come to me, instead of having to wander out into the open?

i'm also having a dilema about x-training bows with a -1 aptitude while my melee skills are not yet anywhere near maxed... i can see how softening up melee targets with a bow as they close, then switching to weapon makes sense, but i am not afraid of melee targets, my only real fear in this game is ...

do skills have diminishing returns on xp... ie: if i have a fighting score of 1, and a polearm score of 10, and i train only 1 skill for a full xp level, would i gain 1 fighting / 1 polearm, or would it be more like 3 fighting / 1 polearm ? or to put it another way, do i have the choice btw having p...

plate, though i have a robe of +5 damage... in the robe i have 14 ac and 13 ev, in the plate it's 26, 5 ... but whenever i've experimented with relying too much on EV and not having high GDR, i've just splattered, so i'll stick to unenchanted plate

also which is better, ring of +5 str, or ring of +2 accuracy and +2 armour class?

I have 18 str, 8 int, 15 dex, and 22 ac when not wearing either, and i'm using a +6 accuracy bardich.

in the tutorial, you can hit single quote ' and it'll swap btw bow and melee ... but when i do that in a real game, it just un-equips everything... help?

I keep using all the scrolls of enchant weapon i can find on my +6 +6 vampiric glaive, but it hasn't increased beyond that... max is +9 +9 ... what am i missing?
