Re: Preparation for my first rune!

Well I would definitely not recommend Elf (Elf 3 has master archers, demonologists etc that can ruin your day without high AC/EV and MR I believe), so it's between Swamp and Snake. Do you have a source of rPois? I'm not sure how important it is for Swamp, but I know it's a big help in Snake. If you ...

Uh...lol? Hydras will kill anything up to and including orbs of fire. Mennas becomes a trivial non-threat if you have Summon Hydra castable. You may as well tell me that Trolls are bad at unarmed combat, that is the level to which you are talking nonsense. My 1 on 1 melee duel with Mennas was the h...

I would say if it did guarantee every scorpion to be friendly it would be overpowered. Even with the summon gap and even against the opponents that are poison resistant. It is overpowered already. The 4 cap succeeded in making it not overpowered due to the fact that it completely neutered the entir...

Just completed my current game, which was the reason I made this thread. Was my first crawl win, 4 runes from shoals, spider, slime and vaults. I found the slime pits to be fairly easy, but I did them last before heading to Zot. I swapped between an artefact rCorr amulet and an rMut amulet and it wo...

Don't forget the halbard to go with that D1 Gnoll. I love poison, preferably in the form of finding a nice big stack of curare needles, but yeah adders are among the worst of the things you'll meet on D2 and they don't sleep on the job all the time like that lazy Sigmund chap. Like elf, crypt, slime pits, hall of blades and tomb? I assume pandemonium and the hells are purely for extended, same with voluntary trips to the abyss, but as for the rest are there particular reasons to go there on a 3 rune game besides extra challenge?

Specifically, why can they appear hostile? Summon ice beast has no chance of summoning hostile, you do get more than one scorpion but aren't they significantly weaker than an ice beast?

Does high spell power prevent hostile scorpions arriving, or just increase the number/duration of the summons?

Re: Still kicking (amazingly) DeFi, another check in with ta

The hero mail in my stash seems very nice, but kills my spellcasting and hampers stealth (in case it's not in dump or hard to find, it's a +8 ring mail artefact with rF++ rC+ rN+ and curse). As in you can only have so many sources of them actually work? My demonspawn has horns three, hooves 2 and claws 1, he kicks and headbutts all the time but I've never, ever seen him use his offhand (always empty, not wearing gloves) be used for an offhand slash or anything like that.
