I'm curious about this too. I particularly liked the DE Ice elementalist that Schwa was just talking about. I know the wiki had some kind of reformatting, but did they just... delete them?

I don't really see anything wrong with this, if it can be easily coded. I like scythes because of their thematic value, but they're so terrible that I would appreciate even a slightly better version of them. Also, throwing away scythes right now is a no brainer. Isn't that against Crawl design philo...

Perhaps we should reduce Djinn's negative energy resistance a few ticks (they're literally made out of energy; draining attacks shouldn't do that much less damage to them) and give them rPois and rRot instead?

Djinn are great, but don't start them as a primary caster (unless it's a fire elementalist)
If you want to cast, start as some other class and invest in spellcasting later, when you have the EP to support it.

As Zion pointed out, this way is more dynamic and allows players to have greater input and control over their characters, without really damaging balance. Arbitrary HP modifiers are unnecessary and clunky when the same/similar effect can be accomplished with a universal stat based HP boost. :ugeek:

I have been under the impression that only Fighters gained extra HP. Regardless, the effect does not have to be substantial to be noticeable, and I think it would console those who like the idea of having a big, strong tank character. Can't hurt to try it, right? That's what Trunk is for. ;)

Strength and HP

Why not have every point in Strength increase HP by a point or two? It makes sense biologically, and also adds to gameplay by giving Strength a visible effect on the character. I'm pretty sure everyone still picks Dex when they get the chance, so this might not be a bad idea. Thoughts?

Summoning has already received some pretty serious nerfs recently. It's unrealistic and removes fun game tact...

I love this idea. I really don't understand this obsession with "balance" so many people have; Crawl is not a multiplayer game, so who cares if some CS are much stronger than others? If it's really a problem, ban them from tournaments. Same thing for customizable backgrounds.
