Why don't we just get rid of the automatic confusion effect for the conjured lightning? Seems like it would make it a hell of a lot more effective (easier to direct/less likely to kill you) without sacrificing flavor or adding a lot of work for devs.

This may not be balanced, but I also think that every consecutive use of this spell should provide a temporary 2-4 boost in EV. I imagine it would be a little harder to target an enemy who is constantly teleporting behind you.

Minmay tended to be a little rougher with people than necessary. He gives excellent advice, but since the people who needed it most are those who are newest to Crawl and the Tavern and therefore the easiest to intimidate or offend, it was decided that he should no longer represent the counselors.

Is the weapon still permanently enchanted? Because if not, you're essentially wasting a permanent buff on a vorpal weapon, making the brand even more useless because you can't enchant the weapons it's attached to.

I don't actually know how to code/am not a dev, but this seems to have been a universally well received spell idea, and I would hate to see it vanish. Are any devs willing to add this to trunk and see how it does?

Also, if this can effectively immobilize a single target and do repeated iron shot-level damage to them, it would be one of the best anti-helllord/panlord/unique spells, since it can do repeated irresistable damage while you pound them with some other attack, and if you want to run away they can't ...

This looks quite overpowered in that 1)it deals irresistible dmg 2)maneuvers monster movement 3) absorbs projectiles (which blocks quite a lot of spells and ammunitions). Sorry, that part wasn't clear :oops:
Only one monster is in the singularity at a time. The rest, when sucked in, just kind of bounce off of it until it dies and they can take its place.
On the other hand, the blinking idea is cool too. Maybe it should do that instead.

I like it, but if it works as posted it should probably be higher level. Blinking an orc warlord's 2-3 weapons five spaces behind you in a corridor is to powerful to be level 3.

On a similar note, there should be more translocation spells like this. It's a fun school, and should be added to.

Nah, Song of Shielding is actually not bad for hybrids who use magic to buff up and then fight. Might as well use the extra mana for something (note that Song of Shielding is still not good, and needs a buff)

Yes. I play a lot of skalds, and usually start grab the first elven ring mail I see (it's surprisingly common) before switching to some kind of dragon armor. Their spells aren't hard to cast if you get Charms skill sufficiently high.

Since it's level 9, I think Death Touch could leave the target with 1 HP (since Torment isn't quite "Death", and Agony already does that...)
