I remember allies always could hit you, including your own summoned white imps killing you if you are behind their target and they miss. Some monsters are really bad if friendly and more likely to kill you than the enemy.

Banishment needs LOF, so if you place the prism on the path between you and the creature that has banishment, she can not banish you. The prism gives you cover. You can also hide behind summons.

I was not aware that unique hunting is your thing, otherwise I surely would have created some chars to hunt down Ignacio and Dissolution. Next time I will focus on this category more! My condolences. Nikola was always very dangerous. Altough many times he just blinks around aimlessly, sometimes he one-shots you. I frequently carried a staff of air just for the case I run into him.

I simply use spider form against hydras. Early hydras are either killed with wands or avoided (they are not fast). Later when you have about ~40 EV, the hydras start to get much less scary. You may need to have good estimate of their damage (watch the number of heads!).

I think there are safe-movements, meaning you only move if nothing is visible. Combining with forced more when something just goes invisible, they allow safe manual exploration if needed. I used to use it, but I am too lazy nowadays and die instead.

I personally would not rebrand it - there are no strictly better brands to generate but there is a good chance to get a worse one. A scimitar is a little it week at Vault 3. As a gnoll you could use any demon weapon or eveningstar/double sword if you insist using a shield - none has generated so far?

I think you underestimate base damage: you need a pretty big difference for a halberd to catch up with a bardiche at 26 polearm skill (with reasonable strength/fighting skills). One more idea for speedruns:

DUHZ speedrun: do a DUHZ (Dungeon->Dpeths-> 3 Hells -> Zot) speedrun. You are not allowed to enter lair/orc.

Similarly you can create different "challenge" speedruns, but I think DUHZ has realtively straigthforward rules and can be interesting.
