This is true, it does affect spells as well. A good reason to never test-ID amulets with early-game conjurers and similar chars.

This is a Temple entrance vault. The flame clouds will never spawn in the very central corridor, though.

I can compare my MDFi and SpVM winners' turncounts. That MDFi was almost twice as fast (99k vs. 171k turns, vs. 242k turns on my SpVM all-runer).

Yep - type "#y" in the drop menu (called by "d"), where # is the number of items you want to drop and "y" is the letter of the stack.
E.g. "d3g" command makes you drop 3 items in stack lettered "g".

If the imp locks the trove, it stays.

I think that, in current trunk, troves are permanent but always require a cost in items, not in gold. There was even a trove that required a Horn of Geryon to open :).

This sounds, well, crawlish ... :).

IMHO your best bet would be the potion of heal wounds. The hellephant could move toward you, fire another bolt (no pun intended) and miss, or hit you for less damage - or you'd be dead anyway.

IIRC, the chance of getting a weapon that trains a particular weapon skill is (1+ weapon skill) / (8+(sum of all weapon skills except Unarmed)). This formula should work for weapon gifts from all gods (probably except Xom), as well as for weapons acquired via the scroll. You'll never receive a weapo...
