It's like having a dual-core processor and twice as much RAM. The giant spiked club daemon is really demanding and a standard ogre can't run two at once without having to use stomach swap space (which is impractically slow).

DD should start without the wand or any potions IMO. Also, DD shouldn't exist. But at the very least it shouldn't start with items that make the overwhelmingly most important part of the game completely trivial.
