How about this as a compromise; have a slow heal when uprooted and a fast heal when rooted? That way you wouldn't be able to go back to heal in seconds, but you'd heal at roughly ghoul rate even while you are moving.

Or maybe the Dungeon is a metaphysical place that warps time and space and the stairs to branches are entries into "pocket universes". That's the best way I can rationalize a jungle existing in a dungeon (the current version of Lair has a very "jungle" feel).

It may sound counter-intuitive for Vehumet, but consider trying to get Spider Form on the character. My current DeVm got saved from a very nasty situation based solely on Spider's speed and evade.

Undead struggle as either Crusaders or Transmuter since you can't berserk or transform when you're dead. VpTm of Kiku MIGHT be a workable build, but you'd have to go more for the necro skills than the transmuter ones ultimately.

The good dragon armors are hard to get. Dragons themselves are rather rare, and its often necessary to use a scroll of enchant armor to create the armor. Its not something that can be relied upon.

Try playing as Transmuter (either SE or Merfolk, Felid might work well too). They have a wide variety of skills useful in the difficult early game. Potion spam for confusion, Sticks to Snakes for things that resist confusion, Spider Form for easy running away and evasion.

It works best for SE/HE casters. DEs are too squishy to train vs. most powerful enemies. Spriggans can train but only after they get loads of EV to increase the enemies chance of missing--doing it early on with a spriggan will just get you pulped.

I think it would be cool if Mahkleb granted you some sort of "demon" related resist (one level of rFire or rLife would be nice) instead of Greater Destruction. Having it kick in at a certain piety level would actually force players to consider conserving their piety and not mindlessly spam...

Well, I managed to take Snake without much incident, but unfortunately I died on Shoals due to some super-powerful merfolk unique armed with a trident of draining. In the future, I'll to Vault 1-7 first. :oops:

Then your character doesn't need to haul around Olgreb, since the "poison on hit" ability of Olgreb won't hurt most enemies in Snake (since they have RPois).
